Chapter 11

Although the doctor had said Clarissa could be discharged the next day, the Skylar parents were worried and insisted she stay a few more days for

observation.

Sebastian agreed.

So for five consecutive days, Sebastian stayed by Clarissa’s bedside.

From expensive imported supplements to limited edition flowers, whatever Clarissa casually mentioned, he would immediately arrange for it.

Sometimes he’d even personally go prepare things himself.

The hospital room was packed with beautifully wrapped gift boxes. Clarissa held up her phone to take selfies against the backdrop of presents, pouting playfully: “Sebastian, does this angle look good?”

“Does it seem a bit weird?”

Sebastian nodded absentmindedly, but his gaze swept over Clarissa’s latest instagram post-a nine-photo grid of jewelry and bracelets he’d bought her, captioned “Only the favored can be fearless.”

In the likes list, Elizabeth’s name stood out prominently.

But she quickly liked it.

His fingertips trembled slightly. When he exited the interface, he accidentally opened their chat window, where the last message still read: “I agree to the divorce.”

What did Elizabeth mean by all this?

The day Clarissa was discharged, she spotted a limited edition handbag, and Sebastian agreed as usual.

At the mall, Clarissa picked out a gray one. As Sebastian was about to pay, he suddenly remembered that Elizabeth seemed to like this brand too.

On impulse, he told the clerk: “Same style, I’ll take two.”

The clerk seemed unsurprised by this, quietly prepared both bags and placed them directly in the back seat.

Clarissa didn’t notice anything during the entire ride.

After dropping Clarissa off and returning home with the shopping bag, Sebastian found the house empty-Elizabeth wasn’t there.

His grip on the shopping bag tightened suddenly. As if remembering something, he rushed to the bedroom and frantically searched through the closet. All of Elizabeth’s clothes had vanished.

Even her ID and other documents seemed to be gone.

She hadn’t suddenly decided to leave-she’d been planning this all along.

Panic set in as he started calling her. He dialed Elizabeth’s number so many times he knew it by heart, but all he heard was the mechanical electronic voice:

“The number you have dialed is turned off. Please try again later.”

Sebastian collapsed onto the sofa.

Every message he sent was rejected, a sea of red exclamation marks that made his vision blur.

He suddenly remembered the birthday gift the bodyguard had mentioned, and ran frantically to the garage.

In the trunk, a silver gift box lay quietly in the corner, sealed with Elizabeth’s neat handwriting: “For Sebastian Whitmore – Open Personally.”

With trembling hands, he unwrapped it to find their divorce agreement, with Elizabeth’s signature written with particular force in the space for the

wife’s name.

Chapter 11

Below the agreement was a note in Elizabeth’s still neat handwriting: “Wishing you and Clarissa happiness.”

Sebastian’s hand holding the note bulged with veins, his nails nearly tearing through the paper.

His phone suddenly buzzed. Another message from Clarissa: “Thanks for buying me that limited edition bag! All my friends are so jealous!”

The photo showed Clarissa holding the bag he’d bought her, beaming with joy.

Sebastian stared at the screen, his throat tight, his mind consumed with thoughts of Elizabeth.

“How could this happen? Didn’t she love me?”

Sebastian muttered to himself in the silent garage.
