That afternoon, the butler Gideon quietly passed me a message.
The moment I heard it, I almost laughed out loud.
Seraphina, your reckoning is finally here.
I told Gideon to head to the military camp and inform the General-“The bird’s in the cage.”
The General rode back like hell was on his heels.
The maid called both me and Seraphina into the main hall.
As soon as she saw the General, Seraphina flung herself at him like some desperate little butterfly.
He shoved her so hard she hit the floor.
‘You hiding something from me?”
His voice was ice, eyes locked on her crumpled figure.
Seraphina’s lip trembled, and the tears came instantly.
‘General, I only just escaped that monster’s hands a few days ago.”
I still wake up shaking… Why would I ever lie to you?”

The General nodded to Captain Silas, who dragged the man into the room.
Seraphina’s pupils widened the second she saw his face.
A few days ago, I’d asked the General to track someone down for me.

The General originally wanted to ship Seraphina off to a brothel in the southern territories.
But that was too easy.

So I told the General to fake affection toward her-to let her guard down while we quietly hunted Luke.
