Chapter 4
In the month I’d known Jade, I’d delivered condoms to her fifteen times.
She always said, “There are tons of guys out there, but the newest ones are always the best.”
When I asked if she wasn’t afraid of getting caught, Jade had laughed and looked at me like I was naive: “That’s why you’re still a virgin!”
“I’m always looking for boyfriends, but never looking for a long–term boyfriend. Clean slate, no exes. You get it?”
At the time, I’d stared at her with confused eyes. I had to admit, Jade really was gorgeous–one of those stunning, sultry beauties. Her habit of wearing body–hugging dresses only added to her allure.
Noticing my stare, Jade had tapped my forehead mockingly:
“Trust me, one month and I’ll have you looking like every guy’s dream girl. Your crush won’t stand a chance.”
“Just need you to be my delivery girl. You’re… faster.”
Dad’s phone call interrupted my thoughts. I snapped back to reality, declined the call, and immediately posted all our chat logs and transaction records in the group.
The students behind me stared at their phones and let out shocked gasps:
“Holy SHIT, that’s intense!”
“I knew she was wild, but damn! How’s someone like that even allowed to teach?”
“She’s so slutty, but then she acts all innocent and blames others… Wait, so is Chloe actually a homewrecker or not?”
Everyone’s burning stares felt like they were about to bore holes through me.
I tried to stay composed, about to post the screenshot where I’d asked Jade if she and that college guy were dating.
“Jade is my girlfriend.” Kieran’s face was dark as he stepped forward to comfort the bewildered Jade. His voice wasn’t loud, but it was firm: “I don’t care what she did before. She’s my girlfriend now, and I don’t want you people gossiping about her private life or
making a big deal out of it.”
Jade’s head snapped up, her cheeks instantly flushing red.
I stood there frozen, like I’d been nailed to a pillar of shame.
After this mess, the management rushed over and fired Jade on the spot in front of everyone.
When it was all over, Kieran grabbed my arm, his face expressionless, voice cold: “I really didn’t think you’d do something like this.”
I didn’t want to deal with him. I struggled to get free, but couldn’t.
He tightened his grip and lowered his voice: “Know why I came today?”
“I found your letter and shoved it in my pocket. Jade saw it. She went ballistic, said you knew we were together but still copied her style to get my attention…”

“Said you might even fake evidence to trash her reputation…”
Kieran looked deeply disappointed as he let go of my hand and sighed: “I really didn’t think the sweet, obedient girl I knew… would actually do something like this…”
I was completely shocked and laughed bitterly: “So you believe her over me?”
Before Kieran could answer, I saw my parents rushing over. I forced back the tears that were about to spill.
I heard Kieran walk up to them, polite and composed as always: “Mr. and Mrs. Harper, it’s fine. Just a misunderstanding.”
Then he turned back to me with a smile: “I didn’t expose you because I’m still on your side. Jade lost her job. You satisfied now?”
In that moment, I realized that having a crush on Kieran was truly the stupidest thing I’d ever done.
I smiled coldly. “Not quite.”
Under my parents‘ shocked stares, I swung my arm back-
SLAP!
Watching the red handprint instantly swell on Kieran’s face, I shook out my hand: “NOW I’m satisfied.”
