“Do you know Lucas?”
Lucas grabbed a passerby, shoving the photo in his face.
The passerby shook his head in fear.

“N–no… I don’t know…”
Lucas let him go and searched for the next target.
“Do you know Lucas?”
Unable to get the answer he wanted.
He punched the wall, blood streaming down. Everyone around scattered like birds and beasts, afraid of provoking this plague
god.
Lucas had been asking for three days.
Who exactly was Lucas?
Was Olivia lying to him? Who had she been looking at all along? He thought he must find the answer.
Lucas went to the Council Chamber again.
“Who is he?”
The Commander calmly looked up.
“Qh… He wouldn’t want to see you.‘
“I asked who he is!”
Lucas smashed the table, his eyes blood–red, scorpion tail in attack position.
“Tell me!”
The Commander picked up the documents, blowing off the dust.
“Young man, don’t be so impatient. I guess you’ll regret meeting him.”
“The more you care, the higher the risk in gambling. You’ll lose even more miserably in the end.”
The regenerated poison needle was just a hair’s breadth from his eyeball.
The Commander shut up, writing an address on a blank space of the document.
“Go find him yourself.”
It only took him ten minutes to get there.
But he hesitated at the door for over two hours, raising his hand then lowering it, never daring to knock.
“Ethan……”
I was laughing and chatting with Ethan when I caught sight of the uninvited guest standing at the door.
He turned his head at the sound.

Carefully opening his mouth.
“Olivia, were you calling me?”
His smile froze completely when he saw the man behind me.
“Hello, I’m Ethan.”
“We’ve met before, but you probably don’t remember.”
Although Ethan was smiling, the smile didn’t reach his eyes.

Two extremely similar faces faced each other.
One was a pure–blood human, the other a half–beast.
An invisible pressure spread out. Just by standing there, Ethan could make the beast–man who once dominated the Federation fall into a disadvantage.
“Do you see clearly now?”
“He is my Ethan.”
Lucas fled in panic.
It was the instinct of beasts when facing danger.
Run, run fast. The answer was obvious, but all he could do was run.
The woman’s coldness was too shocking. Just one look made him breathless.
He felt like he was being torn apart.
This pain far surpassed being locked in an iron cage fighting a hundred beasts.
A bloody sweetness rose in his throat.

Lucas covered his mouth, but couldn’t stop the blood seeping through his fingers, dripping onto the yellow sand, staining it blue drop by drop.
He swallowed with difficulty.
Using his scorpion tail to scatter the sand, peeling off the skin stained with blue blood, wishing he could reach into his blood vessels and squeeze out all this lowliness.
What was the use?
“How could a lowly beast like you compare to him?”
The words echoed in his ears, draining all his strength.
Lucas finally accepted it.

He was just a substitute.
He collapsed on the ground, curling up, slowly pulling out a daisy from his pocket.
It was the last one from the garden.
Even it wilted slowly before his eyes.
From this moment on, not a single thing Olivia had given him remained.
Neither objects, nor her love.
