Chapter 8
In a foreign country, everything seemed somewhat difficult, but not that difficult.[]
Autumn in Germany turned cold quickly. Language, culture, daily routines–everything needed readjustment.[]
But I was used to chasing after Evren, so this life wasn’t too hard for me.]
After all, if it weren’t for pursuing high grades, cramming through coursework early, and finishing my thesis ahead of time, I wouldn’t have gotten the German acceptance so smoothly, almost seamlessly transitioning to studying abroad.[]
After understanding this, those heavy emotions didn’t seem so unbearable anymore.[]
I worked hard to adapt to classes and rhythms during the day, studied language at night, and caught up on content I hadn’t understood during the day.[]
Germans liked punctuality. The library closed at six, so I’d bite into a pretzel while rushing to the classroom on
campus.
Unhurried, like a clock that had just been wound.|[]
Not long after enrollment, I chose a professional elective taught by a young British female professor who, despite her youth, was already renowned in the field.
But when I entered the classroom, I learned that the course instructor had been temporarily changed.
“Hello everyone. I’m Evren Hale, the school’s new visiting professor.”
A student voiced what I was thinking: “Such a young visiting professor?!“]
I finally snapped back to reality and turned around.[]
Evren stood out so much in the restless, noisy classroom–his expression indifferent, devastatingly handsome, simply impossible to look away from.]
He tilted his head slightly, his gaze falling on me.]]
“Sonia, long time no see.“]]
