The delivery went more smoothly than I had anticipated

Despite the intense pain that made me scream like a banshee, I was dancing around the bedroom with the baby in my arms, doing the cha- cha, just two weeks after giving birth

Seeing me so lively, Adam finally let go of all his worries

I passed the baby to him, playfully tapped his head, and teased him for being such a worrywart

On the day of my delivery, the combined sounds of my cries, the beeping of medical equipment, and the doctor’s instructions couldn’t drown out his sobs outside the room

When the doctor approached him to sign a form, he kept holding the doctor’s hand, insisting that my safety was more important than the baby’s

The doctor was left speechless and spent a long time explaining that it was just a standard procedure

Upon waking up after giving birth, the first thing I noticed was his swollen eyes

The midwife remarked that she had never witnessed a husband sobbing so

uncontrollably

Hearing those comments, my curiosity was piqued, and I became eager to know more. I urged Adam to replay the events of that day

Embarrassed, Adam’s ears turned red as he admitted that, despite his thorough research, he had forgotten everything when the moment arrived

I silently laughed as I watched him gently feed the baby

As the days went by, I quickly regained my strength under Adam’s care

Upon my return to work, I took charge of the other companies under my parentsname and reenlisted all the veteran employees

Business flourished rapidly, and I was being kept up to date with plenty of gossip about Oliver

It turned out that just two days before my own delivery, Sally had welcomed a baby boy

While Oliver was fond of the child, he showed no warmth toward Sally

Her overbearing nature in the company had led to a significant drop in profits, causing many employees to quit

Faced with this predicament, Oliver decided to remove Sally from the company after she gave birth and appointed a new secretary to prevent further damage to his business

Sally was understandably upset, but having already given birth, she couldn’t use the child to influence Oliver anymore. Her fits and tantrums were futile. Ultimately, she had to step back and settle into the role of a housewife

Ironically, Sally was worried Oliver might have an affair with his new secretary, so she kept a close watch on him, scrutinizing both his online and offline activities

This behavior made Oliver see her as crass, and his irritation with her

grew

This was a crucial period for the company, but their relationship was fraught with frequent conflicts and arguments

Just as I was enjoying the unfolding drama, my phone started ringing

I unlocked my phone and saw who was callingspeak of the devil

As soon as I picked up, Oliver’s tentative voice came through

Marie, Sally has had the baby

I know I was a jerk before, but will you give me another chance

I don’t care that you married Adam or had a child with him

I want to see you, Marie

Trust me, I won’t be such a jerk again.”

Oliver kept talking, trying desperately to win me back with every word

As I listed, I grew increasingly impatient, but I didn’t lose my cool. I bit into an apple that Adam had offered me, giving him a knowing look. Then, I cleared my throat and responded sweetly

Sure, I have something to tell you too.”

There was a pause on the line, and then Oliver exclaimed excitedly

Great! I’ll wait for you at our old meeting place!”
