Chapter 7
The following day, I pulled all of my family’s investments out of the Gabbard Group.
Dylan tried to humiliate me by demanding a ridiculously high fee for breaking the contract.
I
didn’t argue. I immediately transferred out all the cash and paid him back in full.
That same evening, Aiden made his move.
Suddenly, the Gabbard family was hit hard by a wave of bad press.
Even worse, they were discovered to be facing a huge financial shortfall.
After digging into it, people found out that Rachel had secretly taken all the funds.
Her younger brother had been gambling in Las Vegas and ended up losing everything.
Rachel had no other choice but to use the Gabbard Group’s money to cover his debts.
Dylan completely lost his temper and smashed a bunch of stuff at the birth
care center.
Someone caught it on camera and shared the video online.
People online couldn’t stop talking about it.
“He totally deserved what happened. He betrayed his wife, and then the
mistress took all his money.”
“That’s right. He got exactly what was coming to him. A scumbag and a gold–digger–they’re made for each other.”
“I had to sell off all my shares right away, or I’d end up like that scumbag who lost it all.”
By the next morning, more than half of the Gabbard Group’s staff had quit.
Partner companies also pulled out and dropped their deals.
The stock price plummeted, nearly pushing the company into bankruptcy.
When I stepped outside the following day, I ran into Camilla right at the
entrance.
She was dressed elegantly and greeted me like nothing bad had ever happened between us.
She said sweetly, “Kaylee, you’ve always been my favorite daughter–in- law. Let me help you get rid of that mistress. Just give Dylan another chance, okay?”
I pulled my hand away, showed her the huge diamond ring on my finger, and gave her a small smile.
“Sorry, Camilla. I’ve found someone better.
“That kind of jerk, along with a mother–in–law like you? You two can go ruin someone else’s life.”
Her face turned red with anger.
“Who do you think you are? How dare you talk to me like that?

“Our family has a proud military background. Even if our company crashes, our legacy stays strong. My son will find a good wife easily!”
Her words gave me an idea.
I immediately called the police and reported that Rachel had stolen my Hermes bags.
When the officers came to check Dylan’s house, I went along with them.
Dylan was drinking by himself in the room, with empty wine bottles. scattered all around him.
When the police showed up, his expression turned cold, but the moment he saw me, he lit up with excitement.
“Kaylee, did you come to see me?”
I stepped back and avoided his hand.
“Don’t misunderstand. I’m only here to collect my belongings.”
The expensive things I left here could easily pay for a house.
Just as expected, when I gave the police the receipts and purchase history, they confirmed that over half the items were gone.
I glanced over at Dylan.
“The missing goods are worth around two million. Do you plan to pay me back, or should I let the police go after Rachel?”
As soon as he heard her name, he flew into a rage and threw the bottle he was holding.
“Don’t say her name! She fooled me completely!”

He looked at me with guilt and sadness in his eyes.
“Kaylee, I made a huge mistake. I really did. Can we start over?
“I was foolish, couldn’t tell right from wrong, and I kept changing my mind. But I’ve learned my lesson.
“I swear I won’t mess up again. I just want to live happily with you. Please, give me another chance?”
I didn’t bother hearing his explanation and just shoved a list of what he pwed me at him.
“You’ve got three days to send the money to this account.
“If you don’t, I’ll call the cops and have Rachel taken in.”
Dylan’s eyes went red as he yelled from behind me.
“Kaylee, I was wrong. I’m begging you, think of how we used to love each other. Please forgive me!”
