Chapter48
Paulette exclaimed, “What’s that for?”
“I don’t know about others, but for me, a girl’s hand is just for holding.”
The man finished speaking and went to the kitchen to clean up the tableware. Paulette looked at his tall and straight figure, shaking her head in disbelief.
He was handsome, funny, gentle, patient, and could cook.
A perfect man like that in front of you, any woman would fall for him, right?
Luckily she just jumped out of that pit in Nelson, and she’s still in the desensitization stage, otherwise it would have been hard to escape.
Jeremiah didn’t know he had been put in the guard zone by Paulette. He was so busy with work, squeezing in time to have dinner with Paulette and working nearly twelve hours a day.
Paulette saw it all, sometimes she would be considerate, bringing home two dishes from outside, or just asking him to eat out.
Anyway, cooking is something she won’t easily try again.
A few days passed, and Nelson didn’t reach out to Paulette.
She was happy and peaceful, she had even almost forgotten about this
person.
Sunday is the time for the property’s tea party.

Paulette picked a simple white dress, did a light makeup, and went to the place they had arranged to meet.
Although she had known it was a high–end neighborhood for a long time, it wasn’t until she arrived at the tea restaurant that she couldn’t help but marvel at how generous they were with their money. Paulette and Nelson had been to this tea restaurant once before, with the minimum spending being over five figures.
As soon as she arrived at the door, the waiter warmly greeted her and led her to a private room. “Mrs. Swanson, please come in.”
Paulette wasn’t quite used to being called that, so she awkwardly said thanks and then knocked twice on the door.
A few ladies were already inside, chatting away. When they heard the voices, they all looked up.
Shayla Baldwin, the staff member who sent the invitation to Paulette, was also there. She quickly stood up with a smile and said, “Let me introduce you all to Mr. Swanson’s wife, Paulette Davenport.”
“Ms. Davenport was joining our event for the first time, let’s give her a warm welcome.”
Applause rang out, and Paulette was at a loss.
She greeted with a smile and was seated next to a wealthy lady by Shayla.
Various curious looks were cast over, and finally the elegantly dressed rich lady spoke first, “Mrs. Swanson, did you just move here recently?”
Raulette: “Well, I didn’t live around here before.”
“Oh, that was a good move.”
The woman suddenly exclaimed, “None of these men are honest. Once

you’re not around, they will definitely cheat.”
“That’s right.”
Others also chimed in.
“My family member was caught by me twice, but I won’t let them off easily. I made a big scene and they never dared to do it again.”

Paulette couldn’t join their conversation, so she just quietly drank water.
Suddenly someone spoke up and said, “But Mr. Swanson… I’ve seen him twice by chance, he doesn’t seem like the type to cause trouble.”
“Tsk, men don’t have ‘I will beh
badly’ written on their faces.”
“Can I read people well or not?”
The speaker was another slightly younger lady, named Tamara Waller, besides Paulette.
She recalled Jeremiah’s face and figure, smiling and saying, “With Mr. Swanson’s looks, what kind of woman wouldn’t he want? If it were another man without his wife around, who knows how many women he would bring home, but every time I see him, he’s always alone.”
Paulette’s attention was focused on “every time.”
“Wasn’t he not living here before?”
Tamara was stunned, suddenly remembered something and exclaimed, “You guys just got married, right?”
“Hmm.”
Actually, they weren’t married yet.

“No wonder. I don’t know where Mr. Swanson actually lives, but I’ve seen him around a lot in the past two years.”
“Oh… like this.”
Paulette wondered, Wasn’t Jeremiah always in Hotruesia? Why does he stay here from time to time?
She sat next to Tamara, who was closest to her in age, and they couldn’t help but chat a bit. Before leaving, they even exchanged WhatsApp
numbers.
Tamara was chatty and enthusiastic, her eyes occasionally landing on Paulette. Finally, she couldn’t help but say, “I had dinner with Mr. Swanson and my husband once. He said his crush was still young. We all thought he was joking, but turns out he was really waiting for you to grow up. How romantic.”
Paulette came back home and sat on the sofa, still thinking about what Tamara said before she left.
“He said the person he liked was still young, we all thought he was joking, but it turns out he was really waiting for you to grow up, so romantic.”
