Chapter 58
I heard he was a handsome man.
If these designs could get the boss’s appreciation, it would be like Paulette earning a badge of honor.
Paulette had no idea about it. She had dinner with Jeremiah at night and then rushed home. She was in a hurry because she had to prepare for the postgraduate entrance exam after work.
It’s only been two months.
Although she was confident enough, she still had to study harder.
Last night Jeremiah went out again. When he got home, he saw her sleeping on the table, with a pen still in her hand, and her cheek squished up against the table.
He sighed with a bit of pity, grabbed the blanket from the nearby sofa and
covered her with it.
Just as she was about to take a step, Paulette woke up groggily.
“You’re back?”
She yawned and sat up, “I got so into my book, did you have supper?”
“A little bit.” Jeremiah sat back on the edge of the sofa and pulled her up by the hand. “Are you hungry?”
“I’m not hungry, I just ate two bags of snacks earlier.”
These days they were all very busy, hardly had a chance to cook at home.

Jeremiah thought eating out all the time wasn’t a solution, and said, “Do you mind having one more person at home? If not, I’ll have a housekeeper come over. When I’m busy, she can cook for you.”
Paulette was taken aback, “I can do it myself.”
“Like last time?”
“1
Jeremiah smiled slightly and whispered, “It was the housekeeper we had before, and my parents are not home recently, so she should be happy to go back to her country.”
Paulette remembered that Jeremiah’s family did have a live–in housekeeper before. It seems like she went abroad with them.
She asked tentatively, “Larissa Kemp?”
“Um.”
Jeremiah was a bit surprised, “You actually remember.”
“Of course I remember,” Paulette said with a smirk. “Whenever I came to your house before, you deliberately didn’t give me anything to eat, it was Larissa who secretly gave me something.”
“Then you should bring Larissa back… Long time no see, I kinda miss her.”
Jeremiah booked a flight for Larissa that night, so she could fly back home the next day.
Jeremiah’s parents didn’t have any objections to the news, it’s just that Jeremiah’s mother, Valeria Winston, muttered, “Larissa has been called back, when can we meet our daughter–in–law? Jeremiah, you can’t neglect one for the other.”

“Thick here, thin there” is a term that can be used by mothers like this, Jeremiah was not surprised either, he could only helplessly furrow his brow, “Mom… let her adapt first.”
“Adapt to you or adapt to us?”
Valeria hummed, “I think it’s because you don’t let us meet, Paula is so cute, she must miss me a lot.”

“The change in relationship dynamics,” Jeremiah said solemnly, “I will get the certificate with her first, and then meet with you guys.”
Valeria was still not happy, she complained a few times before hanging up the phone.
Jeremiah stood by the window of the study, turned off his phone, and took in the bustling scene in the distance. He thought of the girl he had been thinking about, sleeping in the nearby room, and felt like his heart was being crushed into a soft lump, about to melt away
Paulette was about to become his wife.
He had been waiting for this moment for a long time, feeling excited.
This winter was very cold, but the heating in the north kept people warm.
After a few days in Creighton, Paulette had already gotten used to life here. The first thing she did in the morning was to pull back the curtains and see if the snow in the yard had melted.
She pushed open the window, took a deep breath of the morning air, and then smiled as she closed it.
After getting ready, I went downstairs and Jeremiah was still in the kitchen making breakfast.
She tiptoed over, planning to play a prank, but the man turned around

Paulette froze awkwardly for a moment, then slowly stood up.
“I just wanted to see if you had finished it.”
Jeremiah raised an eyebrow, “Legs feeling uncomfortable?”
“No way!” Paulette couldn’t help but chuckle, and decided to stop pretending, saying, “Okay, I just wanted to scare you. Do you have eyes on the back of your head?”
“I don’t have eyes behind me, but I have ears.” Jeremiah pointed a finger and tapped her forehead, “Go wash your hands before eating.”
Paulette just finished washing up and then she slipped into the kitchen from under his arm to help serve breakfast.
