Chapter 4
“Shut up!”
“Mason, you have no right to insult my mother.”
“Get out of my house.”
After Mason left, exhaustion seeped into every corner of my body.
My mom hadn’t yet recovered from the shock.
She just stood there blankly, wanting to say something, but instead lowered her head and went upstairs.
I didn’t know how to comfort her.
After Mason showed his true colors, he became even more blatant in his affection for Emma and their child.
He registered the child under the Lewis family name.
He found Emma a more prestigious job.
On her birthday, he even booked the most exclusive restaurant and posted a photo of the two of them together.
Word spread quickly through our social circles.
Some friends close to me screenshotted Mason’s Instagram post and sent it to me.
[Olivia, are you really just going to let this go? How are you putting up with this?]
I didn’t respond.
I just quietly opened the post.
There were countless comments underneath it.
All full of sarcasm and mockery.
[Mason, good for you. You actually pulled it off with your professor.]
[If you didn’t want to marry Olivia, you should’ve said so sooner. You wasted her time–she was everyone’s dream girl.]
[A woman like this is fine for fooling around, but you’re really proud to put her on display?]
Just as I was scrolling through the comments, one suddenly got pinned to the top.
[Background doesn’t define ability. And Emma is the woman I love. Disrespecting her is disrespecting me.]
Immediately after, those earlier mocking comments disappeared.
My gaze turned cold.
Mason was establishing Emma’s place–at my expense, in front of everyone.
And yet, that wasn’t even the most despicable thing he did.
Because of what happened with Mason, my mother hadn’t slept well for several days.
This morning, she couldn’t even get out of bed.
I panicked and contacted the hospital right away.
And the best hospital for treating her condition happened to be under the Lewis family’s name..
I forced myself to stay calm and called Mason, hoping he could help arrange a doctor.

He hung up three times in a row.
Left with no choice, I took my mother to the hospital myself.
But I couldn’t even get her into the ER.
A young nurse stood there looking anxious, apologizing repeatedly.
“Miss Garcia, there really aren’t any beds left. All the doctors are occupied. If you keep waiting, it might be too late.”
Of course I knew that—but in that moment, I had no better options.
I tried to reason with her again.
“This hospital… I have-”
I had been about to say I held shares in the hospital, but before I could finish, Mason’s voice rang out sharply.
“No matter who shows up today, no one’s getting special treatment.”
“Olivia, didn’t you already cut ties with the Lewis family? Who

mother in my arms, “has to apologize.”
He had held a grudge against the woman who had cared for him for over a decade–all because of a single slap.
My heart went completely cold.
A stroke wasn’t something you could afford to delay.
I had no choice but to give in.
“Mason, I’ll apologize, okay? For the sake of all the years she’s looked after you-
“No. She slapped me and insulted Emma. The fact that I’m not making her kneeliko wa
Mason blocked the hallway, ignoring the stares from those around us.
He insisted my mother apologize.
The crowd grew larger, everyone waiting to see if she’d give in.
Just then, the sound of an approaching ambulance pierced the air.

Five or six doctors wearing uniforms from North City’s top private hospital bowed to me.
They swiftly and efficiently began handling everything.
Before getting into the ambulance, I looked at Mason, who was still frozen in place.
Right in front of him, I made a call.
“Cancel all cooperation with the Lewis Group.”
“Within a month, I don’t want to see a single Lewis company still turning a profit.”
