Chapter 14
Leopold pressed his long slender fingers against his forehead, sinking back into the leather seat. “That’s because she saved me.”
Neon lights outside the car window flickered across his sharply defined profile. His eyes, usually calm and composed, showed a rare trace of weariness.
He closed his eyes, memories flooding in like a tide-
Back in school, he had been famously unattainable. His drawers stuffed with love letters every day, girls pretending to “accidentally” meet him in the hallways.
The most extreme case was a girl who, after being rejected, threatened to take her own life if he didn’t agree to be with her.
“Alpha Leopold, why don’t you pretend to get close to some girl?” The Beta had suggested. “That way, the others will give up.”
He thought it was a good idea.
But who to choose?
His gaze swept across the playground and landed on Grace feeding stray cats.
The sun was shining that day. She wore the school uniform skirt and squatted beneath a tree, looking somewhat innocent and pure.
She was the one.
From then on, he deliberately treated Grace differently.
He only took water from her, looked only in her direction during speeches, even tacitly allowed rumors about them to spread in school.
The effect was immediate. Love letters dropped sharply.
One day, Grace invited him to a café.
As they crossed the street, an out–of–control car hurtled toward them.
At the last second, Grace shoved him out of the way.
“Crash-”
Amid screeching brakes, he saw her fly through the air like a rag doll.
On the hospital bed, the pale girl whispered weakly, “Leopold, I don’t regret it. As long as you’re safe, that’s enough.”
Later, doctors diagnosed internal injuries. She had to recuperate long–term at Moonrest Hollow.
Out of guilt, he had granted almost every request she made over the years.
The only thing he was glad about was that, because of Grace’s words, he had taken the initiative to “discipline” Clarisse back then.
A faint smile subtly tugged at his lips at the thought.
He still remembered the first time he met Clarisse clearly.
That day, in the penthouse office, he was reviewing documents when the door suddenly opened.
A flash of red skirt stormed into view.
Clarisse complained, “Alpha Leopold, you have such an ego. You made me wait for half an hour.”
Sunlight poured through the floor–to–ceiling windows, outlining her in gold. She was dazzling like a flame, unexpectedly igniting his black–and–white world.
On the surface, he remained unruffled, but his heart skipped a beat.
After that, she found ways to disrupt his life.

She put salt in his coffee, folded his important documents into paper airplanes, and even wandered around in sexy pajamas during meetings…
He handled it all, carefully stepping through each trap.
The most memorable was the time she slipped a special witch’s potion into his drink.
He had long suspected the coffee was off but drank it deliberately.
When the effect hit, his heat came early. He got to pin that clawing little wildcat down on his desk just as he’d hoped.
“Leopold!” she glared, her eyes red with anger. “You bastard!”
“You’re right. I’m a bastard.” He bit her earlobe. “Didn’t Miss Clarisse want to play? I’m game.”
Afterward, he had sex with her every time but never said “I love you.”
It was because he knew her love for him was far less than his buried deep inside.
If he said it, she might get arrogant from the favor, or worse, run off if she grew bored.
“Alpha Leopold, we’ve arrived.”
The Beta’s voice pulled him back to reality. Leopold then realized the car had stopped at the private jet’s tarmac.
Once aboard, he unusually set aside the paperwork and kept replaying every moment with Clarisse in his mind.
He remembered her tears silently soaked the warmth at the back of his neck when he carried her home;
She was stubborn. She secretly left a cup of warm water by the bedside when his stomach hurt although she was absolutely furious with him;
She was also soft. She threw herself into his arms wearing a red dress every time he returned from a trip…
His Adam’s apple moved involuntarily as Leopold felt, for the first time, what it meant to be “homesick.”
The next evening, the plane landed.
Leopold stepped down the stairs, his gaze instinctively searching for that familiar figure.
Every time he returned before, Clarisse wore a red dress, waving from afar before flying into his arms like a joyful bird.
“Leopold! I missed you!”
Whenever that happened, his eyes would darken. He couldn’t wait to get home and would scoop her into the car to fuck her until her legs went weak and she begged for mercy.
“Leopold!”
A familiar voice rang out.
Leopold smiled instinctively, but then froze on the spot as he turned.
