Chapter 12
“That doesn’t mean it’s her!” Aaron snapped. “Rachel’s not the type to give up like
that. She’s strong. She wouldn’t just… disappear.”
Without another word, he shot to his feet.
Sierra grabbed his arm, tears shimmering in her eyes. “Where are you going? It’s our
wedding night. You’re really going to leave me alone in our bed?”
Aaron turned slowly, eyes narrowing with warning. “Sierra, you do remember who you
are… don’t you?”
“I-”
“Don’t act like you’re family,” Aaron said coldly, voice low and sharp. “You think this
bond makes you Rachel’s sister now?”
His eyes darkened. “Tell me the truth–did you have anything to do with her disappearance?”
Sierra gasped, clutching her chest. “Are you serious? I was in my dress all day!
Surrounded by stylists, bridesmaids… I barely even saw her, let alone talked to her.”
Aaron didn’t say another word. He turned toward the door and threw out, cold and
sharp, “If I find out you had anything to do with this… you already know what happens
next.”
Sierra flinched and let go of his sleeve.
Aaron raced through the night to the lake the detective had mentioned. When he
arrived, the place was cordoned off, floodlights casting eerie reflections on the water.
The body had already been pulled out. It was covered with a white sheet.
Detective Ben held up a sealed evidence bag. “This was recovered from the lake.
Clothing. Can you confirm if it’s Rachel’s?”

Aaron didn’t even need to look twice.
That pale blue dress–he remembered it instantly. He’d given it to Rachel for her
eighteenth birthday.
Seven years ago.
The color had faded. The fabric worn soft from too many washes. But she still loved it.
Still wore it.
He swallowed hard. “Yeah… it’s hers.”
Ben gave a solemn nod. “I’m sorry, Alpha. It’s always hard, losing someone so young. Especially someone like her.”
Aaron said nothing.
Ben tried to offer comfort. “I heard she was an artist. Photographer, right? Sometimes….
the sensitive ones, they carry more weight than they let on.”
“She wasn’t fragile,” Aaron said, almost defensively.
Ben blinked. “I… didn’t mean to offend.”
“She wasn’t fragile,” Aaron repeated quietly. “And this isn’t Rachel.”
Ben stared. “But you just said the dress-
“She donated all her old clothes weeks ago.”
Then, without hesitation, Aaron reached forward and ripped the white sheet off the
body.
Gasps erupted around him. Ben stepped forward, alarmed. “Alpha, wait-!”
But Aaron didn’t move. He stared down at the unfamiliar face. For a long moment, he just stood there. Then his knees buckled slightly.
Ben moved to catch him. “Are you alright?”

Aaron closed his eyes. A slow breath left his chest–half relief, half anguish. “It’s not her,” he whispered. “Thank God. It’s not her…”
Just then, his phone started ringing.

He glanced down at the screen. Sierra.
Decline.
It
rang again. He hit decline a second time.
The third time, he answered with a snarl. “What?!”
A startled voice crackled through the speaker. “S–Sorry, Alpha. I didn’t mean to bother you. I just… there’s a delivery for you. Are you available to sign?”
Aaron blinked. “A delivery?”
“Yes, sir. I’m at the packhouse now. Should I wait, or come back later?”
He was about to dismiss it when something clicked. His heart skipped.
“Who sent it?”
There was a pause. “Uh… Rachel Hudson.‘
Aaron shot upright. His voice turned sharp. “Stay where you are. Don’t move. I’m
coming now.
He made it back to the packhouse in record time.
The delivery guy was still out front, but the package was nowhere in sight.
“Where is it?” Aaron barked. “Where’s the package from Rachel?!”
F
The courier jumped. “Alpha–I just gave it to Luna. She signed for it and took it inside.”
Aaron froze.
“What Luna?” he growled. “I don’t have a Luna.”
