Chapter 1
Adrian Miller, the golden heir in Seagate City, came from a family whose fortune was built on pearl
diving.
Legend had it, one of his ancestors slayed a Leviathan Clam under a full moon and retrieved its Heart–Pearl–only to be cursed by a Shell Siren.
Every male heir in the family was doomed to die at twenty–five, drained of all life.
There was only one way to break the curse: marry a Sea Nymph, a rare maiden blessed by Poseidon himself of whom only one existed in every generation.
In my past life, Adrian had been forced to marry me.
But on our wedding night, his childhood sweetheart threw herself into the sea.
Adrian remained expressionless, calmly arranging her funeral.
He treated me with formal courtesy, like strangers sharing a household.
Thirty years later, as I lay on my deathbed, he brought our son into the hospital room–and pulled
out my oxygen tube.
“A Sea Nymph? That was just your excuse to claw your way into the upper class. If it weren’t for you, Lydia and I could’ve lived out our days together. You killed her!”
“You never understood why our son was afraid of the ocean, did you? Because he isn’t yours. He’s a test tube baby–Lydia’s egg, my child. And now, our son gets to avenge her with his own hands.”
Our son plunged a blade into my chest.
My heart was ripped from my chest, and I died in blinding, searing pain.
Until I opened my eyes again… on the day I had gone to the Miller estate to propose the marriage.
“I’d rather die than marry Serena Hayes!”
With a thud, Adrian dropped to his knees. His voice rang out, full of conviction.
I looked into his reddened eyes–and in that moment, I knew.

He had been reborn too.
His mother, Vivian gasped. “What nonsense are you saying? Serena is the only Sea Nymph of her generation. Marry her, and you’ll survive. None of your uncles made it past twenty–five. I’m a Sea Nymph too–your father only lived because he married me.”
His father, Sebastian kicked him hard.
“You little bastard. Do you want the Miller bloodline to end with you?”
Adrian spun around just then. at the doorway in a white dress was Lydia Gale.
tand the
His eyes lit up and ran to her and tightly, trembling–as if terrified she’d slip away again.
“This time, I’ll make you my wife. No one will keep us apart.”
I felt a stab of pain in my chest as I watched the fire in his eyes.
In the thirty years I had been his wife, I’d cared for him down to the smallest detail. I’d even given him a full blood transfusion after a car accident–nearly died from blood loss myself.
None of it had earned me even a sliver of his love.
Yet all Lydia had to do was stand there, and he gave her everything.
Behind me, the Elder of our enclave looked grim. His voice low and cold.
“This is how seriously the Millers take marrying a Sea Nymph?”
Vivian forced an apologetic smile. “Elder Thalasson, Adrian and Lydia grew up together they’re like siblings. But the Miller family’s daughter–in–law will only be Serena…”
“No! Lydia is the only woman I’ll ever marry!”
Adrian cut her off coldly. He walked forward hand–in–hand with Lydia, locking eyes with me, burning with hatred–like I was some unforgivable sinner.
“They’re lying!”
“You don’t need to be a Sea Nymph to break the curse. Anyone blessed by Poseidon qualifies.”
He raised Lydia’s arm.
A shimmering blue mark appeared on her skin.

“You all recognize this, don’t you? It’s Poseidon’s Mark. Lydia is blessed too.”
“That whole ‘Sea Nymph‘ thing? Just a story your backwater village cooked up to latch onto the Miller name. You’re nothing but a wild, ambitious girl from nowhere, dreaming of marrying into wealth.”
The Elder’s expression shifted as his eyes fell on the mark–surprised, then stormy, but said nothing.
Adrian mistook his silence as confirmation and continued bitterly to his father.
“They’re playing us! How could a village girl like her be the lady of the Miller family? She’ll make me a laughingstock.”
“Lydia’s my childhood sweetheart. We’re from the same world. She’s the one who deserves this title.”
In my past life, Adrian had also revealed Lydia’s supposed blessing.
I’d knelt before the Miller family, tearfully begging them to believe me–that Lydia’s mark couldn’t save him.
Eventually, Sebastian had chosen to believe me, forcing Adrian to marry me.
That night, Lydia had thrown herself into the sea.
But she hadn’t committed suicide..
Her mark wasn’t Poseidon’s blessing at all.
It was a Death–Mark Sigil–a cursed seal no one in the Tidefolk ever dared speak of.
Seeing our silence, Sebastian hesitated.
“Elder Thalasson… is it true? Is Lydia’s mark really from Poseidon?”
Vivian looked just as confused. “But… Poseidon only grants his mark to one chosen soul per generation…”
The Elder’s face darkened as he turned away. “If the Miller family has already found another way to break the curse, then there’s no need to lower yourselves by coming here.”
Furious, Sebastian and Adrian left. But Vivian clutched my hand, reluctant to go. Chapter 1

“Serena, we’re both Sea Nymphs. Please… just promise you’ll come to Adrian’s birthday, will you? I’ve got a terrible feeling. He’s our only son–if something happens to him, the Millers will have no
one left.”
I nodded without protest.
Because Adrian’s birthday… falls on the same day as his.
One of them is destined to die.
