Chapter 3
I cleared out the charred remains of my home and moved into a villa on the outskirts of the city- property belonging to him.
The place was cold, every inch of it cast in muted greys. Just like its owner–distant, untouched by
warmth.
I spent the entire afternoon decorating the wedding suite.
But while out buying flowers, someone struck me from behind.
When I came to, the sharp scent of antiseptic filled my nose. Adrian stood nearby, dark circles under his eyes.
“Lydia was in a car accident. Your blood–Sea Nymph blood–it’s a powerful elixir. If you agree to give her a transfusion, I’ll allow you to stay by my side.”
I gave a bitter laugh. “When the golden heir wants something, doesn’t he usually just take it?”
Adrian’s eyes turned vicious. Veins bulged along his hand as he wrapped it around my throat.”
“Serena, do you want Lydia to die again? Sea Nymph blood only heals when given willingly. Forced, it turns to poison. Today, you will give it to her–voluntarily.”
That secret was known only to the Elder and the Sea Nymphs.
In my past life, when Adrian lay dying after a crash, I had drained my entire body to save him- replacing his blood with mine.
He never once showed gratitude. If anything, he grew colder toward me.
And when I was the one dying, weak and helpless in a hospital bed, he stood over me with our son and pulled out my oxygen tube.

“You think saving me meant I owed you something? If not for you, Lydia would still be alive. If you hadn’t saved me, she and I would’ve been reunited in the afterlife.”
“I wish I could tear you to pieces.”
It wasn’t until my final moments that I learned the truth. The son I’d poured twenty years into raising… wasn’t mine. He was a test tube baby–conceived from Adrian and Lydia’s genes.
Looking now at the coldness in his eyes, I laughed at myself.

“I never hurt her. I don’t owe her anything. Sea Nymph blood was never meant for her.”
Adrian’s voice went ice cold.
“Then don’t blame me for what happens next.”
At the snap of his fingers, I heard the unmistakable roar of a helicopter from outside.
Mixed in with the thunder of the blades was an old man’s cry for help.
My heart seized. I turned toward the window-
The Elder was dangling from the chopper like a ragged kite, swinging violently in the air. His face had gone pale.
The rope around his waist had cut so deep, it was already stained with blood.
“No!” I screamed. “Adrian, let him go! Please!”
The Elder was the only family I had left in this world.
Of course they’d go after him. The man knew exactly where to strike.
He waved a nurse over. “So? Are you willing?”
“My blood, will kill her.”
Adrian’s eyes hardened. He gave a slight gesture–and the helicopter tilted violently.
The Elder’s face turned even whiter. I watched in horror as the pilot reached for a pair of scissors,
aiming to cut the rope.
My scream tore from my throat.
“Don’t! I’ll do it! I’ll give Lydia my blood! Willingly!”
Adrian signaled the pilot to stop. The roar of the blades slowly died down.
“See? Was that so hard? My offer still stands. I’ll allow you to stay by my side.”
The needle slid into my vein. Adrian told the nurse, “Drain her. Every drop. She won’t die. And if she
does–I’ll take the blame.”
I forced a twisted smile. He didn’t know. In my past life, I had nearly died saving him.

And he still didn’t know… Even if a Sea Nymph gave her blood willingly, it only worked on those of
her bloodline.
Lydia would die from it.
And this time–it was Adrian himself who activated the curse.
