Chapter 8
Adrian was rushed to the hospital. But every specialist could only shake their heads, offering the same helpless words.
“All of his vitals are normal. There’s nothing we can do.”
Adrian tried to push himself out of bed, his expression wild with frustration and rage.
“I told you I’m fine! All of this was made up by Serena to trick her way into the Miller family! Where’s Lydia? If something happens to her, I won’t survive it either!”
Vivian was shaking with fury, nearly choking on her own breath. Then–slap! Her hand cracked
across Adrian’s face.
“You’ve lost your damn mind! That woman almost got you killed and you’re still clinging to her
like a fool!”
“Do you even realize? That mark on her wrist–it wasn’t Poseidon’s blessing. It was his curse. The cursed are doomed to throw themselves into the sea under a full moon. And tonight is the full moon. There’s no saving her! Lydia knew she was cursed and still tried to marry you. She was going to take you down with her!”
The words hit Adrian like an explosion.

He froze, dazed, disbelief clouding his eyes. “Drown herself?” he muttered. “No… that’s not
possible…”
But the memories of his last life came flooding back. The night sky outside darkened, shadows bleeding into the corners of the room. Adrian tore off his blanket and jumped out of bed.
“No! I don’t believe it. This is all part of Serena’s plan!”
Abandoned on the outskirts of the city, Lydia had lost all strength.
Her mind was slipping into darkness, her body limp like a dead fish against the grass.
The
Then–moonlight spilled across her skin. Her eyes snapped open. Expressionless, she stood up and walked toward the edge of a sea cliff.
“Lydia! Don’t do this! I’m here now. I’ll protect you. No one will hurt you again!”
At the cliffside, she stood still, silent, unmoving–like she couldn’t hear anything at all.

Adrian screamed as he ran toward her and threw his arms around her.
But when he caught a clear look at her face, he stumbled back in horror. Her irises had turned crimson, hollow, collapsing inward like dying stars.
“Lydia? What’s wrong? Say something–please!”
Then she smiled. She dropped to her knees and began to bow, her voice flat and emotionless–like a pre–recorded broadcast.
“I’m sorry, Lord Poseidon. I should not have harmed your descendants. This is my punishment. Adrian Miller is already dying. When he’s dead, I will offer his soul to you, so you may lighten the weight of my sins.”
Adrian stood frozen, speechless. This was the woman he had loved through two lifetimes. He collapsed to the ground, helpless.
Vivian’s words rang in his ears. So did mine.
He wanted to scream. To shake Lydia. To ask her why. But his limbs felt heavy, like his bones were filled with lead. Even breathing took everything he had left.
Lydia rose without another word. She didn’t even glance back at him.
She simply stepped off the cliff. A soft splash followed–horribly loud in the silence of night.
Adrian crumpled where he stood, eyes fluttering shut.
In the darkness behind his lids, he saw me. Me–at the moment of my death in the past life, eyes
drained of light. Silent. Broken.
He suddenly missed me. Missed my cooking. The way I always had dinner waiting, no matter how
late he came home.
Missed how I would try everything to cheer him up when he was down.
Even the way my body shook under his–how I still held on and never once pushed him away.
“Adrian, I really did love you.”
“Adrian, I never hurt her.”
Those words echoed in his ears, over and over again. His eyes snapped open. He gasped for air,
choking on guilt and grief. Tears spilled down his face.

He had lost the one person who had truly, selflessly loved him.
