Coming out of the tattoo shop, it was already evening.
I got along well with the boss’s wife, and we exchanged contact information and added each other
on WhatsApp.
When I was going home, I passed by a small stall selling cotton candy.
I couldn’t help but stop my steps.
The last time I ate it seems like it was when I was a child. At that time, my grandmother had not passed away yet. She would give me all her spare change when I couldn’t resist the temptation of cotton candy and couldn’t walk anymore.
She always watched me finish eating, and then she would laugh and scold me, saying “You greedy
girl.”
My grandmother always liked to watch me smile.

I walked in high heels.
I heard the sweet and childish voice of the little girl again, “But Auntie, why does it seem like you’re not happy at all even though you ate such a sweet cotton candy?”
“Mom, Auntie looked so lonely…”

The sound grew distant.
When I got home, the cotton candy was all gone, leaving only sticky hands.
I entered the door and washed my hands.
I received a call from Quinten.
He seemed drunk.
“Kierra.”
“You said.”
He chuckled on the other end of the phone, “Only seven more days, and you’ll be marrying me.” “Tomorrow, shall I take you to choose a wedding dress?”

Quinten remained silent for a while.
I faintly heard a girl’s coquettish voice coming from the other end of the phone, “Quinten, let me accompany you to try on wedding dresses. Don’t you want to see how I look in a wedding dress?”
A long time passed.

I just didn’t know if he was responding to me or to the girl next to me.
Woke up from a nap.
I heavily crossed out the date of yesterday on the calendar.
There were only six days left.
Today, I was going to attend a concert.
I changed clothes, washed up, and put on makeup.
I was feeling a bit unwell, with pain all over my body, but I managed to hold on. In the dressing
mirror, a woman was wearing the short skirt that Quinten hated the most, revealing her slender limbs. She had a calm smile on her face, finally able to make peace with all the unsightly scars, big and small, on her body.

The concert was a huge success with thousands of people filling the streets.

“Did she have something and couldn’t come to the concert?”
The boy smiled, but a snowfall instantly fell in the depths of his
