Chapter 19

The low murmuring ceased abruptly

Every eye in the boardroom snapped toward the entrance-

Amidst the solid thud of the opening door, a suited man entered, trailed by a precisionmarching legal team whose steps echoed with icy. discipline

Xander?!

He knew this man

He was Hayden, assistant to Javier Harrisonheir to the Harrison Group and chief secretary of the Fu Group in Chicago

Hayden stopped before him

Stating gravely, My apologies, Mr. Jackson. The board meeting isn’t over yet. You can’t leave. I’m here to announce a decision on behalf of Mr.

Harrison.”

Xander felt utterly bewildered

He chuckled, Secretary Hayden, you must be mistaken. This is the Jackson Group’s board meeting. Are you in the wrong place?”

The Harrisons held influence, but this was his territoryno place for

Javier to run wild..

Hayden smiled. Not for long.”

Chapter 19

What?!”

Xander froze, a sudden sense of foreboding washing over him

Hayden continued: Mr. Harrison is now the majority shareholder of the Jackson Group. As of today, this company no longer bears the Jackson name.He paused deliberately. Your CEO position has been terminated. A successor will assume your duties shortly.”

He extended two documents

One was a stock transfer agreement proving Javier’s acquisition of shares

The other was an official termination notice

Lawyers swiftly distributed copies to attending shareholders. The room instantly buzzed with discussion, like a boiling pot

Xander stood frozen in disbelief

Snatching the documents from Hayden, he scrutinized every detail

Javier actually held a 50 percent stake

It turned out he had laid his plans long ago, secretly acquiring 20% of the shares, then taking advantage of the media storm to buy another 10% at low prices from the market

As for the remaining crucial 20%, it was actually transferred by Caitlin!!

And he only held 40% of the shares

Just as Hayden said, from today the Jackson Group would no longer be under the Jackson family, but the Harrison family

The papers in his hand suddenly fell to the ground. Xander staggered

backward, nearly losing his balance

Caitlin, why?”

He never imagined Caitlin would sell the shares. This was the fruit of their joint efforts

But it also proved she truly wanted nothing more to do with it

She didn’t want him, nor the company she’d fought for day and night over

so many years

No, he couldn’t accept this outcome

He grabbed Hayden by the collar and demanded: Did Javier pull strings behind the scenes to swindle those 20% shares from Caitlin? She was tricked, right?”

Xander’s eyes burned with desperation

Desperate for an answer from himany answer that would let him keep lying to himself

But Hayden owed him no comfort

Without sugarcoating or exaggeration, he stated flatly: Ms. Schmidt approached Mr. Harrison herself and transferred them at 30% below market price.”

Thirty percent below market value?!

That’s impossible”

Xander’s grip went slack

Losing the company paled against the terror of losing Caitlin completely

Chapter 19

Years ago, the Schmidt Group faced a crisis. Someone offered to buy it at a high price. Xander wavered, but Caitlin refused and even had a huge fight with him over it

She said the company was their second home. As long as the company existed, their home would still be there. No one was allowed to give up

But now she’s sold it dirt cheap

First came the divorce, then selling her shares. Could it be that Caitlin really wants nothing more to do with him

No, absolutely not

Xander didn’t want to admit this truth. He even thought Caitlin must have had no choice. Maybe she ran into trouble after returning to Chicago and urgently needed money

He had to go to Chicago and ask her in person
