Aria’s POV
The moment the door opened, the wind chimes jingled.
I looked up, and my smile froze.
My wolf instantly caught a familiar scent.
“Maya?” My voice trembled slightly.
My gaze went past the cub to Ethan.
But my expression wasn’t happy. It was resistant, cold. I even instinctively let out a defensive scent.
“What… what are you doing here? How did you track me?”
Sophie looked curiously at the strangers who had burst in, instinctively hiding behind me.
The little girl sensitively picked up on the tension in the air.
Gabriel stood up, subtly positioning himself in front of them, his wolf scent turning alert.
“Mommy!” Mason ran in too, throwing his arms around my leg, his eyes welling up with tears. The little wolf cub’s urgent emotions made his scent chaotic.
“We missed you so much! Mommy, have you been with these two all this time? Was it for them?”
He looked at Sophie with hostility.
The little wolf cub’s possessiveness made him glare at her, scaring Sophie into clutching my clothes tighter.
I stood frozen, my hands hovering in mid–air, unsure whether to hug them back.
My wolf instincts told me to protect the cubs, but my mind reminded me of the hurt they’d caused.
Seeing Mason’s hostile gaze, I suddenly snapped back to reality, my own gaze turning cold.
I made no move to hug them back, instead taking a small step backward.
My eyes shifted between the two cubs and Gabriel, finally landing on Ethan.
“What are you here for?” My voice was soft, but sharp as a knife..
Ethan took a step forward, his Alpha scent instantly filling the air.
His gaze swept over Gabriel, then settled on my face.
“Aria… we’re here to take you back to the pack house.”
“Stop messing around. Your punishment has been enough. The cubs know they were wrong… Just come back with us.”
