But right then, Elizabeth collapsed softly onto his shoulder. “Hendrix… my head hurts…”
Hendrix instantly snapped out of his thoughts, forgetting everything else. Panicked, he wrapped his arms around her. “I’m taking you to the hospital!”
Without glancing back, he rushed off with her in his arms.
Alexandra looked at his back and suddenly smiled.
As laughter slipped out, tears mixed with blood streamed down her cheeks.
If he had just turned around once, he would’ve seen that the person barely hanging on was the one he once claimed to
treasure.
But he didn’t. All he could see was Elizabeth.
When Alexandra came to, she was lying on the cold floor of the villa.
Her phone buzzed in her pocket.
With trembling hands, she pulled it out and saw two new messages.
The first was from Hendrix.
“Babe, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have snapped at you. I just don’t want you making mistakes. I’ll be staying at the hospital to look after Elizabeth for a few days. I’ll come back once she’s better.”
What a joke. He hadn’t even realized she was gone.
The second message was a confirmation.
“Ms. Norton, your request for name change and identity cancellation has been approved and is now effective.”
Alexandra stared at the screen, her grip tightening until her knuckles turned pale.
She could finally leave.
She forced herself to her feet, changed into fresh clothes, and grabbed the suitcase she had packed long ago.
She took everything that was hers–except for two things.
The first was a necklace Hendrix had gifted her when she was 18. There was a tiny camera hidden in the pendant. When he gave it to her, he said, “Alexandra, I want to see what you’re up to at all times.”
Back then, she thought it was sweet. Now, it just felt twisted.

He probably hadn’t checked it for a long time.
Because if he had, he would’ve seen how he shoved her into the pool over and over, beat her 99 times, and shattered her fingers himself.
The second thing she left behind was a bundle of old love letters he once wrote to pursue her.
Pages yellowed with age, but still marked with youthful handwriting.
“Alexandra, I’ll love you forever. Only you.”
She ran her fingers over the writing and suddenly thought back to when he was 18. He had her pinned against the wall and said with reddened eyes, “Alexandra, I can’t live without you.‘
The promises that used to make her heart race and keep her up at night now felt laughable.
She placed the necklace and the stack of letters down on the coffee table. Without a second thought, she turned around and walked away.
Right before stepping out, she tossed her phone into the trash, letting it take all her memories with it.
From that moment on, the Alexandra who cried for Hendrix no longer existed.
