Hendrix stood at the door, his expression dark and intense.
Elizabeth’s phone slipped from her hand. “Hendrix? Why are you—”
“You knew that was Alexandra.” His voice was cold and raspy. Now, he looked like a demon crawling out of hell.
Her face turned pale as she gripped the bedsheets tightly. “I–I don’t know what you’re talking about…”
“The one in the sack!” He yanked her wrist so hard that he could snap it. “You knew it was her, didn’t you?!”
Tears welled up in Elizabeth’s eyes. “Hendrix, you’re hurting me…”
He ignored her plea, staring at her like he could see through every lie. “Tell me the truth!”
“I–I just love you too much…” she cried out, her voice shaking. “I was scared she’d take you away. I can’t help it…”
The revulsion in Hendrix’s eyes was clear. He released her hand like he had touched something dirty.
He glanced around, and his eyes landed on the fruit knife on the nightstand. The blade caught the light, casting a re- flection of his twisted expression and the fear flooding Elizabeth’s eyes.
“Y–you can’t…” she stammered, stumbling backward. The IV stand clattered loudly as it hit the ground.

The lights in Hendrix’s office were harsh and cold.
Documents were spread across his desk, laying out everything Elizabeth had done behind his back to sabotage his re- lationship with Alexandra. One folder from a private investigator was especially thick.
It was packed with evidence–photos, audio clips, bank transactions, and statements from the hired thugs.
“She paid us to act like we were roughing her up.”
“She wanted us to fake the scene. We weren’t planning to hurt her.”
“She said if Mr. Sanchez believes it, we’d get extra money…”
Hendrix clenched his hands so tightly that his knuckles went pale. His eyes were filled with rage,
Elizabeth had staged it all from the very beginning.
And he had pushed the woman he loved deeply into the nightmare.
Just then, a bodyguard brought Elizabeth into the office. She gave a flirty smile as she asked, “Hendrix, what’s the rush? Why did you-”

Before she could finish, a pile of documents flew at her, smacking her face.
“Explain this,” Hendrix said coldly.

Papers were scattered all around her feet. She glanced down and saw the photos and financial records. Her expression froze.
“I–I can explain!” She squatted down in panic to gather the papers, hands trembling. “Someone must be setting me up! It’s Alexandra. She’s always hated me. She-”
“Alexandra?” Hendrix repeated, his voice eerily calm. He opened a drawer, pulled out a recorder, and hit play.
“Serves her right for not knowing what’s good for her…”
Elizabeth’s voice echoed through the office–sharp and cruel.
Her face went pale in a second.
With Hendrix’s cold stare locked on her, she started breathing harder. “You have to believe me… I love you so much…”
“Love?”
Hendrix looked confused and grabbed her chin. “You do all this and still say you love me? Aren’t you disgusted with yourself?”
Her face changed in an instant. The sweetness vanished, replaced by something bitter and twisted. “You went after me first! You treated me like a stand–in and made me think you loved me!”
She yanked herself away from his grip, pointed at him, and spat, “Alexandra ditched you a long time ago! She’d rather give up everything and run away than ever face you again!”
