Chapter 11
Hearing this, Robert threw another punch.
Until the head nurse brought security guards to pull them apart.
Benjamin stared at Robert and continued: “Didn’t you claim she was dead? Where’s the death certificate? Cremation permit? You must know where her tombstone is?”
“Show me just one piece of proof, and I’ll believe she’s gone.”
Robert listened to these outrageous words, feeling once more how undeserving it was for Elizabeth.
He paused briefly, then said, “Benjamin, you don’t deserve to be near Elizabeth.”
“You don’t deserve to bother her either.”
After speaking, Robert was pulled away by the head nurse to treat his wounds.
“Can’t you resolve things peacefully? Why resort to violence?”
Perhaps Robert’s punch had jolted Benjamin awake.
He actually found himself wondering: Could Elizabeth really be dead?
Frustrated, he drank alone at a bar until midnight.

Returning home, he picked up his phone. He opened Elizabeth’s chat window only to close it abruptly. After several repetitions, he finally exited the chat and opened her cancer journey alt account.
The ID name was orange – because it was his favorite fruit.
He tapped to open it.
[Day 32 of fighting cancer: The doctor said the cancer cells spread too fast, with low survival odds within 3 years. Told me to prepare for passing anytime.]
[Day 45 of fighting cancer: Had chemo today–lost all my hair.
Targeted therapy barely worked. Had a dream: walking through a night market with Benjamin, my first love. We adopted a puppy and had a sweet daughter named Elizabeth.]
[Benjamin held my hand while carrying our girl on his shoulder. Everything felt too beautiful–so beautiful that waking up left me heartbroken. Heartbroken it was just a dream… yet it makes me fight harder to live.]
[Day 520 of fighting cancer: Feels like dragging through each breath. Slept all day in a haze. Another surgery tomorrow–unsure if I’ll make it off the table. Even water I drink turns into blood when I vomit.]
【772nd day of cancer journey: My body has recovered a lot. The doctor says it’s a miracle I’ve survived repeated surgeries and treatments. This miracle went to the beach alone, remembering the promise I made with my first love to visit the shore together. Today I kept that broken promise.】

Words so moving they ached just to read.
Could these also be fake?
Sudden fear surged through him, creeping over his heart and clutching him tight.
He scrolled to the latest entry: just one image captioned “Patient Elizabeth, 28th day of hospitalization.”
In the comments section below, many self–appointed justice warriors chimed in:
“This is just a scheme to gain followers. I’ve seen one claiming to seek euthanasia too, who was later exposed living comfortably abroad with the exact same script.”
“Exactly! A fellow patient once spotted her at the hospital with a visible baby bump.”
“Are you brainless to argue this isn’t scripted? What cancer patient updates their cancer diary daily? Bone cancer survival rates at her stage drop below 5% in three years.”
At that moment, Benjamin felt utterly ridiculous, nearly falling into her trap again.
He told himself: Must not be fooled by Elizabeth again.
For the next two days, Benjamin busied himself with advancing the wedding arrangements.

He had a feeling Elizabeth would show up.
The mere thought of all her carefully laid plans crumbling, of her watching him marry the woman she despised most, of her pain and anguish-
it brought him an inexplicable relief, a profound satisfaction like vengeance served.
