Chapter 4
I shrieked in terror, and the man slapped me hard across the face.
“Shut up! How dare you try to steal Emily’s man! Let me have my way with you first–we’ll see if Benjamin still wants you!”
He lunged at me with a lewd grin. I fought to scramble higher, but excruciating pain paralyzed my body.
As fabric ripped beneath his hands, I squeezed my eyes shut in despair.
Just as I prepared to bite my tongue off, my father’s face flashed before
- me.
He’d searched for me over twenty years–I couldn’t die here!
Summoning every ounce of strength, I groped for a nearby twig and stabbed it into his eye.
Taking advantage of his pain, l’stabbed his other eye.
He nearly passed out from agony. I struggled to my feet, stumbling upward.
At dawn, I finally reached the hospital entrance before collapsing
unconscious.
In my dazed state, I heard the director and Benjamin talking.
“Dr. Sophia was already anemic from blood loss. Forced blood draw could trigger acute shock.”
“The baby in Emily’s womb is perfectly fine…”

Benjamin cut him off coldly, “Just draw it. I won’t risk Emily and the child.”
“The mess Sophia caused must be cleaned up by her.”
The sharp needle pierced my skin. I frowned.
Benjamin smoothed my eyebrows as Emily walked out weakly.
“Benjamin, stop drawing blood.”
“A few hundred milliliters of blood won’t make a difference. It’s my fault. Don’t waste Sophia’s blood.”
Benjamin looked up at the director and said, “Then draw double the
amount.‘
The director replied tremblingly, “If we keep drawing, Dr. Sophia might not hold up…”
Benjamin hesitated for a second and said coldly, “The pregnant woman comes first.”
“Remember, we’re only drawing blood for tests. All other symptoms are because Sophia was already severely anemic.”
My heart felt like it was being torn apart by a blunt knife until it bled profusely.
When the blood drawing ended, I fainted again.
I don’t know how long it took, but I finally woke up.
Benjamin was sitting by the hospital bed with a bowl of chicken soup, his tone unusually gentle.

“Come on, you have severe anemia and are too weak.”
“Considering your poor health, Emily and I forgive you for this.”
“Our marriage certificate with Emily has been issued. From now on, she is the rightful Emily to the public. Don’t be stubborn and target her anymore; it’s not good for you.”
I nodded.
Benjamin smiled with relief, “Don’t worry, it’s just a fake marriage. The Emily in my heart is always only you.”
“By the way, Emily is going to work a solo shift. Since you’re in the hospital, stay up at night and keep her company during the shift. You’re experienced; teach her well.”
I didn’t speak.
Looking at the calendar on the wall, in three days, my parents will come to pick me up.
Just three more days of enduring, and I can leave.
That night, the hospital got word that the General Commander’s wife had acute gastroenteritis from travel discomfort.
Emily eagerly settled the Commander’s wife in the VIP ward, shutting me out completely.
“Still dreaming? You’re not even hospital staff anymore.”
“Whether it’s Benjamin or this chance to shine, they belong to me alone.”
