She shoved me into the ward and locked it from the outside.
Deep in the night, someone yanked me up. Emily frantically urged, “The Commander’s wife is having an allergic reaction! Save her!”
I dashed into the ward and began emergency treatment on the unconscious Commander’s wife.
Hours later, I finally managed to pull her through.
The accompanying military aide asked doubtfully, “What medicine did you give to Olivia?”
Emily answered nervously, “Penicillin.”
The military aide snapped, “Why didn’t you do a skin test for penicillin? You’re not saving her, you’re harming her!”
“I will report what happened tonight truthfully to Benjamin.”
The director and the chief rushed back overnight, and Benjamin also arrived together.
Emily cried bitterly, “Sophia told me not to do the skin test.”
“I pleaded with her repeatedly, but Sophia said that sparing Olivia a skin test injection would definitely make Olivia praise her for being thoughtful, and might take her to headquarters.”
Sophia looked at her coldly and sneered, “You shouldn’t be in the hospital. Your acting is so good, you should go to the theater.”

The director looked hesitantly at Benjamin.
Emily sobbed uncontrollably, “Sophia, I know you envy me for marrying Benjamin. I understand you want revenge.”

“But this time you’ve gone too far! Gambling with lives for your own gain!”
Benjamin gently comforted the gasping Emily. “Don’t be afraid, I’m here.”
A passing family member spat toward me. “Just one step away from becoming Mrs. Carter. She’s definitely holding a grudge.”
“Benjamin’s honorable, caring for his late brother’s widow and unborn child. What’s an orphan like her dreaming of?”
“Even hired thugs. Why would they obey her? Must be something shady going on.“–
“Crossed powerful people this time. Probably getting fired.”
Amidst the insults, Benjamin looked down at me coldly.
“Sophia, you see it yourself. If we don’t follow protocol, we can’t silence the gossip.”
“Write your report properly and admit your mistake.”

I scoffed. “I’ll only state facts. Emily never ordered a skin test. The nurse on duty can confirm.”
Benjamin frowned deeply, impatience dripping from his words.
“So you’re saying you bribed the nurse too?”
“If that nurse dares bear false witness, she’ll be downgraded with you.”
I laughed in disbelief at his shamelessness. “Then let’s have Olivia testify. She’ll recognize the doctor who spoke with her.“.
Emily’s face fell instantly, her tears forgotten.
Benjamin shielded her behind him, barking at me, “You dare drag Olivia into this after your own mistakes!”
“No need for a report. Immediate downgrade. Bring her military discharge papers–I’ll assign her unit myself!”
Almost simultaneously, a voice cut through from behind. “I’d like to see who dares!”
