Chapter 7
“Mr. Carter, once Mr. Mitchell finishes his investigation, I’ll report this handling method to him in detail.”
Benjamin patiently explained, “Mrs. Brown, even if the medical order was written by my wife, she followed Dr. Mitchell’s instructions.”
“You might not know this, but my wife just transferred to the hospital twenty days ago. Dr. Mitchell is her supervisor and takes responsibility for her medical orders.”
I shook my head desperately. “I’m no longer hospital staff. Mr. Carter personally processed my military discharge papers. I couldn’t possibly supervise anyone.”
“That night, Emily used this exact pretext to lock me in the ward. She blocked my access to you, let alone allowing me to review medical orders.”
At Benjamin’s signal, the workshop director clamped his hand over my mouth, silencing me completely.
Benjamin showed an apologetic expression and lowered his voice.
“Dr. Sophia is my ex–fiancée. She went a bit mad after I married Olivia. Sorry you had to see this, Olivia.”
“Please trust I’ll handle this fairly, Olivia. You and the General Commander will get a proper explanation.”
After speaking, he ordered his men again, “If she won’t admit fault, lock Sophia in the detention cell for three days.”

They pinned me down again.
Olivia stepped forward agitatedly, pointing at me, “What did you say her name was?”
Benjamin looked at her blankly and answered, “Sophia.”
Almost instantly, a familiar voice cut through.
“How dare you! What are you doing to my daughter!” /

That commanding voice froze everyone in place, too scared to breathe.
Watching my father approach from afar, my tears fell uncontrollably.
The military aide respectfully saluted my father, “Good day, General!”
Then he introduced to everyone, “This is the commander–in–chief.”
My dad ignored him, walked straight to me, and kicked away the person restraining me.
“What crime has my daughter committed that you have to hold her like a prisoner!”
“Benjamin, you’d better give me a reasonable explanation!”
Olivia almost sprinted over, hugged me in her arms, “Sweetie, I’m Mom.”
“I’m sorry, you saved me, but I didn’t protect you well.”
Seeing Mom crying her eyes out before me, my tears poured down like
rain.
I have Mom and Dad protecting me now, no longer that helpless

orphan with enemies on all sides.
Benjamin and Emily stood frozen in place, unable to process what was happening.
“General, there must be some mistake. Sophia’s just an orphan without parents. How could she possibly be your daughter?”
Dad looked down on him. “That’s none of your concern. What you‘ should tell me is what my daughter has actually done wrong?”
Benjamin wiped the sweat from his forehead, speechless for a long
moment.
The military aide stepped forward and briefed Dad on the whole situation. Dad’s face flushed crimson with rage.
“Benjamin, you’ve got some nerve!”
“Over twenty days ago, I had my girl complete her military discharge to transfer to Walter Reed. She’s no longer hospital staff. How could she possibly serve as some random instructor?”
