Chapter 25 Affectionate Boss
Keenan turned to his boss. Calbert seemed in a good mood and
refreshed. With the dark circles under his eyes gone, he looked
more dashing than ever.
Well, that was the radiance of love.
Keenan walked over and handed the file about Seryna to
Calbert.
“Mr. Hatfield, here are the findings. It’s Seryna Willard, who has
just reunited with the Willard family. But no one in the Willard
family likes her. Her eldest brother, Jeremiah, even abducted
her last night. I called Zachary and asked him to give Jeremiah a
demerit. However, Ms. Seryna produced a letter of
understanding this morning. As a result, Jeremiah was
released.”
Calbert’s face clouded over as coldness gathered in his eyes.
Then, he sneered. Even the air felt oppressive.
Pressured, Keenan had to bow his head, too afraid to look at
Calbert’s intense and murderous eyes.
“Where’s Sera now?” Calbert’s cold voice sounded

unprecedentedly affectionate when he said Seryna’s name.
Keenan couldn’t believe his ears.
What? Sera?
Did Calbert just call Seryna Sera?
Keenan was dumbstruck.
Was this man still his aloof boss?
Was he possessed?
After all, as the dominator of Earteria, Calbert was
distinguished and unapproachable, globally the richest.
But now, for a woman, he was willing to put his pride aside.
There had never been a woman around him. Seryna was an
exception.
Keenan collected himself. He met Calbert’s furious eyes and
answered immediately, “Mr. Hatfield, Ms. Willard went to the
Willard’s old residence last night. The Willards and their adopted daughter, Tehila, are meeting Brunell tonight to talk
about the engagement. If Ms. Seryna hadn’t been missing, she
was supposed to be the one engaged to Brunell.”

“But Tehila and Brunell love each other. They’ll get married
eventually!”
The tall and slender Calbert was seated on the small couch. It
was an odd sight.
With a gloomy look in his eyes, he gave a faint sneer and
continued, “So, Sera can’t marry the Fortin guy. Understand?”
Keenan couldn’t help shaking when he met Calbert’s icy and
menacing eyes.
After so many years, his aloof boss still terrified him.
“Yes, Mr. Hatfield. Brunell must marry Tehila.“”
With that, he handed a report to Calbert.
“Mr. Hatfield, this is the antidote in Ms. Seryna’s medical kit. It’s
traditional medicine but can detoxify your body. On the other
hand, the doctors we hired and pay handsomely have achieved
nothing in the past two years. Should we dismiss them?”
The medical team was useless. They spent tens of millions of
dollars for nothing in the past two years. In the end, a small pill
of traditional medicine did the trick.
Those so–called experts thought they could do anything they

Calbert raised his hand slightly and said, “No hurry. They
wasted two years of my time. How can I let them leave just like
this? The research continues. Keep my recovery a secret.”
Keenan understood that Calbert meant to lure out the culprit.
Calbert stood up and looked around the small suite. There was a
faint smile in his eyes.
“About Sera’s location, keep me posted. I wanna see her.“”
With his head lowered, Keenan replied, “Consider it done, Mr.
Hatfield.”
After Calbert left, Keenan had the suite cleaned to erase the
traces of their visit.
Seryna went to the police station personally with the letter of
understanding to get Jeremiah out of jail.
Jailed for one night, the man was quite aggressive. He stared at
Seryna with a murderous look in his eyes and a malicious smile
on his face and threatened through gritted teeth, “Seryna, I’m
your brother. How dare you have me arrested! Are you tired of
