The next day, her cheeks were flushed crimson not from embarrassment, but guilt.]
In a panic, she tried to slip away, forgetting about that night, only to be stopped by his embrace from behind, kissing her lightly. “Kendall, you can’t just sleep and run. That’s not fair.“[]

When she stepped out again, she unexpectedly locked eyes with Elijah, who was lounging on the sofa.
“Leaving without a word?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.[]
Kendall’s breath hitched for a moment as she looked down to hide her red eyes. “My phone died, so I came back.“]
Not suspecting anything from her casual excuse, Elijah pulled her into his arms and effortlessly loosened her bathrobe tie
Before he could do more, Kendall quickly grasped his hand, preventing him from getting too nosy.
“Didn’t we just hang out at the club a few hours ago?”
Elijah didn’t pick up on her reluctance. Instead, he intertwined their fingers, holding on tightly.[]
“It’s been ages. You know I can’t control myself when I see you. Kendall, I really like you.“[]
Hearing his flirtatious words only made Kendall feel bitter. []

Elijah finally sensed something was off and paused, a puzzled look in his eyes. “You love me, I love you. We love each other. How could we not…?”
“Love each other?” she thought, suppressing a smile, and smoothly changed the subject. “Just talking. I got caught in the rain on the way back and I’m not feeling well. I think I’ll go rest.“]
Noticing her pale face, Elijah didn’t push further.[]
He leaned down to kiss her forehead a few times before intending to carry her to the bedroom.[]
But just as he was about to lift her, his phone suddenly buzzed on the table. He picked it up, opened it, and found a message from Tiffany.
“Elijah, I’m back in town, but it’s pouring outside. I can’t get a cab. What should I do?“[]
After reading the message, Elijah set Kendall down on the sofa, standing up purposefully.[]
“Kendall, I have something to take care of. Just go to bed. Don’t wait up for me.“[]”
With that, the door slammed shut behind him.[]
