Chapter 11
Three days later, Alaric’s meeting finally ended.
He rubbed his throbbing temples and turned on his phone, which had been turned off for several days.
Countless messages flooded in, with Clarisse sending 99+ messages while Sylvie only sent one.
He unconsciously clicked open Sylvie’s chat box-
It was a transfer message.
message.
Transfer: 500,000 dollars.
Note: Half a month’s rent + medical expenses.
Other than that, not a single word.
Alaric furrowed his brow, almost laughing in frustration.
His long fingers tapped on the screen.
“Am I short of this? What’s our relationship? Why do you have to settle accounts with me like this?”
After sending it out, he stared at the screen for ten minutes.
In the past, whenever he sent a message, Sylvie always replied instantly.
But this time, the chat box was eerily quiet.
He directly dialed Sylvie’s phone number.

“I’m sorry, the number you have dialed is currently switched off…”
The mechanical female voice came through the receiver.
Alaric was slightly stunned – was he still sleeping?

In my mind, I see Sylvie sleeping soundly: her thick eyelashes casting a small shadow on her face, her red lips slightly parted, occasionally unconsciously snuggling into his arms.
At the thought of this, a slight upward curve unconsciously appeared at the corner of his lips.
Clicking on Sylvie’s profile picture, there was a proud and aloof Ragdoll cat, with deep blue eyes that looked down on all beings, just like her.
Unconsciously, his fingertips brushed across the screen, and he finally sent a message: “I will be back tomorrow night, come pick me up.”
The message still fell on deaf ears.
Alaric put down his phone and dialed his assistant’s number. “How did the information I asked you to find out go?”
“Mr. Savrelle, it has been confirmed. The pearl necklace will be featured at The Aurelian Auction tonight, and it has been confirmed to be the one that Ms. Ainsley’s mother wore before she passed away.
“Arrange the car.”
Half an hour later, Alaric appeared at the auction. He was dressed in a black suit, and his gaze behind the gold–rimmed glasses was cold and distant, rejecting the advances of several socialites.
When the pearl necklace was presented, the whole room was in an uproar.
“The starting price is ten billion!”

“Eleven billion!”
“Twelve billion!”
The price kept soaring, but Alaric never made a bid.
He slowly raised his hand until the bid reached two billion, and then said, “Fifty billion.”
The whole field fell silent.

the end, the necklace fell into Alaric’s hands at a sky–high price.
On the way back, the assistant finally couldn’t help but speak up: “Mr. Savrelle, you didn’t lend money to Ms. Ainsley to buy that necklace back then. It seems like she has always held a grudge… If she knew that you went to great lengths to find the real heirloom and spent so much money to buy it, she would definitely be very happy.”
Alaric caressed the velvet box, with Sylvie’s radiant face appearing in front of his eyes: “Will you be happy?”
“Of course!” the assistant exclaimed, “Ms. Ainsley is straightforward and her emotions are written all over her face. Although a bit arrogant, she has a very kind heart. Last time, when the new intern spilled coffee, everyone else was about to scold him, but she just said, ‘Perfect, I wanted to change my skirt anyway…“”
As they were talking, the assistant suddenly felt the temperature inside the car drop sharply.
In the rearview mirror, Alaric’s face had already darkened terribly.
The assistant immediately fell silent. “Sorry, Mr. Savrelle, I spoke out of turn.”
“Do you like her?” Alaric’s voice was as cold as ice.

The assistant’s hand shook on the steering wheel, almost hitting the guardrail.
“I…”
“To be honest.”
The assistant took a deep breath. “Who wouldn’t like someone like Ms. Ainsley? But don’t worry, I know she only has you in her heart…”
He gave a bitter smile, “So I just… secretly admired her, never revealing my feelings.”
Alaric’s face cleared slightly.
The assistant, however, suddenly plucked up the courage to continue, “But I also hope you treat her better.”
“Don’t switch between liking Ms. Pritchard one moment and being nice to Ms. Ainsley the next. Ms. Ainsley deserves to be liked wholeheartedly!”
“Suddenly liking Clarisse, suddenly liking Sylvie?” Alaric squinted his eyes, “What do you mean by that?”
Since it had already been brought up, the assistant decided to go all in.
“It’s just literal! Mr. Savrelle, I’ve actually been wanting to ask, do you really like Ms. Pritchard, or Ms. Ainsley?”
