Chapter 6
The dinner was arranged at the hotel.
That day, everyone who had business dealings with my father was invited.
I was dragged to drink a round of alcohol, tired to the point of sore feet, and hid in the guest room to slack off.
Just as I lay down on the bed, I heard a sound coming from the bathroom, which startled me.
“Who?” I asked, but there was no response. Curiously, I approached the door.
As soon as the bathroom door was opened, I was pulled inside.
I gasped, my eyes filled with terror, as I stared at the man in front of me.
The man drenched all over, and pressed me against the wall, his breath scorching and rapid.
He seemed to have exerted a lot of effort to see me. After a while, he weakly and breathlessly uttered my name.
“Renee Werner?”
I blinked to indicate my answer.
He let go of his hand and suddenly pressed his whole body onto me.
“What a coincidence, I was your fiancé who hadn’t gotten married yet. Would you like to do me a big favor?”
“What, what’s the big rush?”
I felt something was not right when the words came out of my mouth, so I quickly changed my mind and said, “Why should I believe you just because you say so?”
He chuckled throughout his life, his breath spraying onto the side of my face, instantly causing a slight itch.
“He was quite cautious, with his wallet and phone in his pocket, making sure he could identify anyone.‘

Seeing that he didn’t seem to be lying, I gently pushed him aside, took out my wallet, and glanced at the name on his identification.
Indeed, it is!
“Did you get sick?”
I took back his wallet from his pocket while sizing him up.
He had a slender figure, and if he wasn’t all flabby, at such a close distance, I could probably only see his chin.
His skin was very fair, with a high and straight nose, giving him a blend of the beauty of different countries.
“No, I was tricked by someone.”
“Ah?”
I paused as I helped him walk towards the edge of the bed.
Is it still possible to run now?
It seemed like he sensed my thoughts, as he suddenly grabbed my arm and quickly took a few steps, throwing me onto the soft bed.
“It was too late.”
I was bounced up by the mattress and then pushed back down by him.
“If you didn’t plan to elope, could you please help me?”
How am I supposed to respond to this?

Although I indeed had no intention of eloping, asking me to marry a man I had only met once…
“It’s good that you didn’t run away.” After waiting
for a while, he seemed certain of my intentions and immediately kissed me.
Two hours later, my eyes were tinged with redness an

rubbing my wrists.
The originator across from me, however, had already fallen asleep peacefully.
Beast!
I picked up a pillow, intending to hit him, when the door was knocked.
My brother’s voice came immediately. “Seamus.”
I was at a loss, Seamus Cain’s tall figure crossed over me, opened the door a crack, and dragged my brother in.
My brother looked at me, then looked at Seamus, his eyes wide like brass bells.
“I wanted you to get familiar as soon as possible, not to get this fast!”
“Shut up!” Seamus weakly snapped and then slumped back onto the bed.
My brother’s fists were clenched. “Damn it, I haven’t even hit you yet, and you’re already being aggressive towards me? What have you done to my sister? Even if you’re engaged, you shouldn’t act like such a beast!”
Seeing that my brother was eager to hit someone, I quickly stopped him.
“Bro, things weren’t the way you thought.”
“What was that?” My brother glared at me, his face turning red.
I coughed uncomfortably, even though it is true that we didn’t progress to that stage, we did do some things that ordinary friends wouldn’t do.
But how am I supposed to explain this to him?
When I was in a dilemma, Seamus was the first to speak up.
“You know about my family’s situation, I got caught this time, I had no choice.”
Although my brother’s brow was still furrowed, he had finally calmed down.

Chapter 7 lately
When I went back, I curiously asked about Seamus in the car.
My brother sighed and told me everything in detail.
Originally, his grandfather planned to hand over the full management of the company to Seamus after his marriage.
But Seamus’s aunt Gina was not an easy person to deal with. She believed that the family business should be divided equally between
her husband and Seamus’s father.
But these two people, their minds are simply worse than each other. Especially his second uncle, who was manipulated by someone before and lost a lot of money. If it weren’t for Seamus turning the tide, the Cain family would probably have been folded in half by him.
Is that true? How could Sir Cain bear to hand over the hard work of several generations of the Cain family to him?
Gina couldn’t persuade Sir Cain, so she came to deal with him.
To sabotage this marriage, Gina did a lot of behind–the–scenes work. Especially when it came to ruining this marriage, she spared no
effort.
Seamus was originally wary of Gina, but he did not expect that she would even exploit her own newly adult son.
Seamus was just caught off guard by his cousin and fell for it.
I couldn’t help but sigh.
There were many scandals in the grand mansion, unlike my family’s nine generations of single inheritance. It was only in my generation that my parents forcefully created another me.
Before I could even complain, my brother’s phone rang.
I glanced and unexpectedly, it was a call from Christian. My brother was going around a bend and didn’t have time, so he asked me to
help answer it.
I hesitated for a moment, then I pressed the answer button for him and turned on the speakerphone.
Christian’s voice was urgent, as soon as the phone was answered, he spoke.
“Garrett, did your sister go back?”
My brother glanced at me, laughing heartily.
“Yeah, how did you know?” “Well…”
Christian paused for a moment and didn’t dare to say much. He simply said, “Can I have your sister answer the phone? I have some things I want to ask her.”
My brother laughed even more happily, “Then you ask, she happens to be right next to me and can hear it.”
Christian fell silent instead and after a while, he cautiously asked, “Renee, can I talk to you alone?”
My brother finally sensed something was amiss, giving me two sideways glances before speaking again, which already carried a warning.
“What’s the matter? Am I not allowed to listen? Are you trying to ask me how to win back your beloved from my sister?”
Christian sighed heavily and said, “I didn’t want to pursue Vanessa, we had broken up.”
“Renee, can we talk? I just need a few minutes.”
“Shit.” My brother suddenly slammed on the brakes and stopped the car by the roadside.
“Christian, don’t you dare act shameless. Don’t think I don’t know you’ve been with that Vanessa for how many years, and you’ve even changed your flings one after another. And now you dare to have thoughts about my sister? This is my sister, damn it! I’ve considered

you as a brother for so many years, don’t force me to fly over and beat you.”
After saying that, my brother hung up the phone and threw it into the storage box. He didn’t even bother to look at it, no matter how much it rang.
He turned around and glared at me, “What’s going on between you two? Didn’t you say you weren’t familiar with him?”
I pursed my lips and couldn’t hide it anymore, so I had to confess everything that had happened over the past few years.
He listened and his eyes turned red with anger. After a while, he wiped away his tears and hugged me.
“It’s not your fault, it’s my brother’s poor choice of friends. I should have told you about Vanessa earlier, so you wouldn’t have gotten so deeply involved.”
I shook my head, and my heart softened.
“It was my foolishness and stubbornness. Over the past seven years, he neither wanted to make it public nor come back to see you. I should have realized that something was wrong.”
My brother rubbed my head and said, “It’s okay, it will be fine in the future. Seamus is reliable. I guarantee it with my life.”
Christian was a person who cared about his reputation. He thought that after my brother scolded him so harshly, we would never see
each other again in this lifetime.
The next day, to our surprise, our family was sitting around the dining table having breakfast when the servant came to report that
someone at the door specifically asked to see me.
