Chapter 4
His attitude was clear and firm–I was completely thrown off. Thoughts started to crowd my mind.
“Who jumps straight to marriage on a first date? And the guy is Ryan, no less…
“This man, who once felt so out of reach, was now sitting across from me–calm and sincere–saying he wanted to be my husband.”
I still couldn’t wrap my head around it.
“But… why me?” I asked.
He looked like he’d expected that question. He leaned back slightly, tilting his head.
“A woman like you–talented, kind, one of a kind–do I really need a reason to want to marry you?”
Then he raised his brows at me, smiling. He was so serious, so genuine, it actually made me a little embarrassed.
I rubbed my nose awkwardly. “But aren’t your conditions better than mine?”
He paused–just for two seconds–then met my eyes head–on.
“Then do you think I’m good?”
I froze, swallowed, and glanced down at the table filled with dishes that matched my taste perfectly.
288 Vouchers.
I’d meant to say something earlier. He’d arranged all this after I texted him super late last night. And still, this entire meal was tailored to my preferences.
He had clearly put thought into it. And he didn’t seem anything like the cold, ruthless man the rumors painted.
Add in his looks, his resume, and everything… Who wouldn’t think he was good?
“You…” I hesitated. “You’re great.”
His smile deepened, and he let out a quiet chuckle, clearly pleased.
He nudged the resume book toward me again. “Then, wanna give it a shot?”
Realizing he meant marriage, my mind instinctively backed away from a step I’d never planned for.
But his sincerity was undeniable. And I wanted to be honest, too.
“We can try getting to know each other first.
“Marriage right away… might be a little fast, right?”
His eyes dimmed for the briefest second–then he quickly hid it, nodding sweetly.
“Okay. Whatever you say.”
After dinner, Ryan told his assistant to arrange a driver to take me home. On the way, I overheard him talking with the assistant.
That was when I found out–he was supposed to be in an important international meeting at the time I asked him to dinner.

I felt guilty right away. “Did I make you miss your meeting? I’m so sorry, I didn’t know…”
He waved it off casually. “It’s nothing. That meeting can happen anytime.”
His tone and gestures all said don’t worry about it, but I still felt bad.
Seeing my mood dip, Ryan suddenly bent down, leaned in close, and blinked at me.
“Besides, what’s a meeting compared to getting a wife?
“You asking me out–that’s not something that happens every day.”
His face was so close, I could see every flutter of his long lashes. And in those unreal eyes of his–I saw my own reflection.
For a second, I could actually hear my heartbeat getting faster.
“Ryan…”
Maybe he noticed I was flustered, because the tips of his ears turned slightly red.
He slowly pulled back to give me space. “Ahem… I should get back to work.”
He left in a bit of a hurry, and as he walked away, those long legs of his looked just the slightest bit… off–rhythm.
I stared at his back, rolled the window up, and couldn’t help but smile.
Somewhere deep down, I realized… I actually really liked being around. Ryan.

200 Vechers
It wasn’t until later that night that he messaged me–a photo of the full moon, clearly just taken.
I replied quickly, “It’s beautiful,”
His response came even faster. “Yeah. Saw it and thought of you.”
Thought of me? My face warmed.
“Are you always this smooth?”
He played innocent.
“I just said what came to mind. Does that count as flirting?”
How does he always manage to say the most heart–skipping things… with a straight face?
I was still thinking about how to reply when another message popped
- up.
“Free for dinner tomorrow?”
I didn’t even hesitate,
“Yeah, I am.”
