As the plane took off, I let out a long sigh of relief. I had booked the ticket in such a hurry that only economy class was left. But I
wasn’t picky.
I pulled my hat down low, the tension of the past few days finally releasing its grip. My eyelids grew heavy.
Just then, I smelled a familiar scent. A very expensive, custom–made perfume.
…The kind that only Eric wore.
My heart almost stopped. I slowly turned my head.
And met a pair of dark, intense eyes. A single mole at the corner of one.
“Where are you going?” he asked, his voice low.
Eric’s dark gaze was fixed on me, his shadow falling over me.
I closed my eyes. Tears seeped from the corners.
The silence stretched on.
“Why are you crying?” he asked after a long moment, his fingertips gently brushing away my tears.
Finally, with a complex expression, he said, his voice deep, “I won’t let Song Ling appear before you again.”
He pulled me into his arms. The familiar scent enveloped me.
I cried silently.
Eric’s arms tightened, caging me. He rested his chin on my neck. “Don’t ever talk about an annulment again, baby.”

Eric stiffened, then he casually tucked a stray strand of my hair behind my ear. “Are you lying to make me jealous?” he asked, his
tone certain.
Not everyone is like you, I thought calmly.
I pushed him away. “When we land, I’ll introduce you.”
Eric gritted his teeth. Seeing my blank expression, he laughed in exasperation. “I don’t like it when you lie like that.”
He cupped my chin. “Pretending you like someone else to make me angry? Sarah, you’ll never have anyone else to like in this lifet-
ime.”
I forcefully turned my head away, staring out the window at the dark sky and the glittering city below.
