“How’s business?” he asked.
I smiled at my blooming arrangements. “Money’s tight, but it’s picking up.”
“Just signed a third hotel yesterday–wedding flowers on contract.”
Marcus’s eyes lit up. “Not bad for six months.”
“It’s a small town. There’s not much competition.”
“Enough to live on. Even save a little.”
As we chatted, a scooter pulled up out front.
“Elaine! I’m back!”
A young man bounded in, boyish and loud. “There’s a freakin‘ Maybach outside! With a hood
ornament! That car’s sick!”
Then he saw Marcus and stiffened.
“…Who’s this?” he asked, eyes narrowing with suspicion.
Marcus looked amused. “He just called you Elaine?”
“Care to explain, Miss Summers?”
I smiled calmly. “This is Marcus Kingswell, CEO of Aether Mobility Group.”
Marcus tapped the table. “Update your bio. I’m Executive President now.”
