Chapter 9
Brandon pushed himself up from the ground, his eyes darkening as he watched the two figures disappear into the night.
The wind howled through the dark as he staggered toward a luxurious villa and slipped inside.
From the second floor came the unmistakable sounds of moaning and low whispers–intimate, breathless, unmistakably hers.
Brandon crept upstairs, a rope clutched in his hand. Step by step, he approached the man from behind–and in one swift, brutal motion, looped the rope around his neck and yanked hard.
“Ahhh!” Madison shrieked in terror, her voice cracking.
Carter gasped, face turning purple, thrashing for air. “Help… me…‘
He clawed at Madison, silently begging for her to save him.
But she just froze, staring blankly as Brandon strangled Carter until he could no longer speak-
until his eyes went wide and his body went still.
“You both deserve to die,” Brandon seethed, his voice trembling with rage. “You destroyed everything. You killed my child. This is for my baby.”
Madison’s eyes widened in horror as she began inching backward, trying to crawl away–but
Brandon caught her by the hair and yanked her back.
“You,” he hissed, “you’re the one who deserves to die the most. If it weren’t for you, I never
would’ve lost Rachel. I never would’ve lost my child.”
Madison fell to her knees, sobbing, begging for her life.
“I was wrong, I swear! Please, Brandon, just give me one more chance! I’ll be good–I’ll stay with
you, I’ll do whatever you want, I promise!”
Smack.
His palm cracked across her face, loud and sharp.
“Brandon…no, you are my brother, please…”
He sneered. “Brother? You think you deserve to call me that? A filthy slut like you?”

Madison clutched her swollen cheek, still groveling.
“I didn’t have a choice,” she cried. “You know I’m just a woman, what power do I have? When you
got arrested, Carter forced me to be with him–I was scared, I couldn’t fight back…”
Brandon’s hands shot to her throat, his eyes bloodshot, his voice a growl from hell.
“You really think I believe a word you say?”
“All of this–everything I’ve become–is because of you. You’re the one who should’ve died!”
He grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head down–hard–against the glass coffee table.
Crash.
The table shattered on impact. Blood poured from Madison’s head, soaking the shards beneath her.
She writhed on the floor, trying to get up, but Brandon reached into his pocket–and pulled out a gleaming blade.
“If you did something wrong… then you have to pay the price.”
With a cold flick of his wrist, the blade flashed–and Madison collapsed into a pool of blood,
unmoving.
Just then, the front door burst open with a bang.
Dozens of officers stormed in.
“Brandon Whitmore! You are under arrest for murder. Drop the weapon and surrender
immediately!”
Brandon was taken into custody, again.
I got the call just as I was heading to the gate at the airport.
I paused at security as my phone rang. It was the police.
“Ms. Moore,” the officer said, “we’ve discovered that you falsified a DNA test result. Can you
explain why?”
“I just wanted to leave something behind for the baby I lost. Is that a crime now?”
I hung up before they could answer and walked straight toward the gate, never looking back.
