Chapter 19
Julian had been searching for Savannah like a madman for three years.
He stopped caring about the company. Stopped going home.
He’d flown across almost every country on the map.
Every night, he needed sleeping pills just to get a few hours of rest–telling himself that maybe, just maybe, tomorrow he’d finally hear something about her.
And when that hope shattered day after day, despair crept in deeper.
The cycle wore him down. And eventually, something broke.
One night, he woke up with the wind howling in his ears.
He was standing barefoot on the edge of his balcony–twelve stories high.
Just one more step.
But he didn’t take it.
Because as hellish as life had become, he knew one thing–if he was gone, there’d be no chance of ever seeing her again.
And that, he couldn’t accept.
So instead, he dragged what was left of himself to one of the top trauma therapists in the country.”
It had taken weeks of backchanneling, favor–calling, and waiting in line for hours.
What was the point of wasting time on someone like him?
That day, the sun had already dipped beneath the horizon. Julian stood outside the clinic, utterly exhausted, away.

He turned to leave.
But then-
A voice.
Familiar. Soft. Clear as a bell.
“Wait, where’s the last patient? Did they leave already?”
It echoed in his ears like thunder cracking across a canyon.
Julian froze.
That voice. That voice.
He turned around, breath catching in his throat, heart slamming against his ribs.
Even though she was turned slightly away, he knew.
He knew. He knew it was Savannah.
His lips trembled. “Savannah…”
And before he could stop himself, he was sprinting toward her.
But a security guard stepped in, blocking his path.
“Sir, if you’re here for treatment, you’ll have to wait your turn.”

“I’m not here for treatment,” Julian growled, eyes flashing. “I’m here for her. Move.”
The guard narrowed his eyes. “Then you’ll still need to follow protocol. If you cause trouble, we’ll have no choice but to escort you out.”
Just then, a tall, clean–cut man stepped out of the consultation room beside Savannah.
She hadn’t seen Julian yet.
The man said something to her–calm at first, then his tone sharpened as his expression darkened.
Savannah lowered her gaze, nodding like a scolded schoolgirl–quiet, defensive,

He didn’t hesitate. He punched the nearest guard, shoved past him, and stormed straight toward the in his chest.
But the man moved faster.

He caught Julian’s wrist mid–swing, twisted it hard, and slammed him to the ground with brutal precision.
Julian’s face cracked against the cold linoleum. Blood smeared across the floor.
Still pinned down, he looked up–dazed, furious–only to find Savannah staring at him.
Her face had gone pale.
And in that instant, something shifted in the other man’s eyes. He’d realized it too.
Savannah knew him.
Julian’s breath caught as their eyes finally met.

But there was no warmth. No flicker of recognition. No trace of the girl who used to look at him like he was her world.
Only ice.
Cold. Distant. Unforgiving.
She looked at him like he was a stranger.
Like he meant nothing.
Like he was already dead to her.
And the worst part?
He couldn’t blame her.
