Chapter 70

Alicia leaned in, hissing through clenched teeth. “Caitlyn, I warned you–if you dare compete with me for this project, I’ll plaster your ugly photos all over the internet!”
I did not flinch. Instead, I calmly pulled out my phone and played the surveillance footage from that day. Her threats rang out loud and clear. “Thanks to the company’s excellent surveillance system,” I said evenly, “every word you spoke was recorded.“”
The color drained from Alicia’s face. Stripped of her leverage, she turned and fled in panic.”
Stefan, still unaware that he had been deceived by her, stood frozen in place. His face darkened with the sting of realization. After a long, awkward silence, he finally muttered bitterly that he really was no match for Hayden Aldrich.”
Without another word, he turned and walked away. But just before leaving, he threw one last glare in my direction.
Hayden and I then left together to meet with the investor and discuss the capital injection. As for Stefan, he stormed back to confront Alicia, furious. His hand shot out, grabbing her by the neck.
“You told me it was your own proposal,” he snarled. “You said you worked on it for two days. You actually lied to me, Alicia!“}
Her face flushed red under the pressure of his grip. Gasping for air, she struggled and choked out, “Stefan, let me go–I can still set up a meeting with Simon Alexis. I’ve met him a few times before!“}
Stefan finally let her go, but his fists clenched at his sides. “If I can get to Simon before Hayden does, I don’t care if I have to sacrifice my position.“”
Determined, Alicia poured money into preparations and had her assistant gather every bit of information on Simon Alexis. On the day of the meeting, she hid inside the private room’s restroom–since Simon always booked the entire venue, it was the only place to lie in wait.”
When the moment felt right, Stefan and Alicia stepped out and knocked on the private room’s door.
To their shock, they found me already seated at the table, dining with Simon and Hayden.”
Stefan’s face twisted in disbelief. “Caitlyn, you met with Simon yesterday–and now you’re here again? Are you shameless, trying to steal our business?“”

“I already gave you the contracts worth million of dollars,” he added. “Why are you still chasing after him?”

“Mr.
I was baffled by his sudden appearance, but before I could speak, Alicia stepped forward, putting on her sweetest Alexis, do you remember me? We met at my university graduation this year. You even came up on stage and gave me my tassel.“[
Stefan relaxed slightly at that. Tasseling was usually reserved for someone with a close connectio

Sensing his chance, Stefan jumped in. “Mr. Alexis, you know Alicja. I’ll be honest, Caitlyn Sinclair is a liar.“” “She worked at my company for three years. After we broke up, she seduced her own boss and stole a project worth millions of dollars from me. Thanks to some shady backroom deals, she became this year’s top seller.“”
“This is your first time in the market, Mr. Alexis. I just don’t want you to be fooled by someone like her. You should really look into her background. Before all this, our company was number one.“}
Simon raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “Really? They’re together?“}
Stefan, sensing the growing attention, doubled down. He accused me of stealing three major contracts to climb the ranks, claimed I invited Hayden to live with me under the pretense of a leak at his apartment and that I used every chance at work to flirt with him, so much so that he had to break off his engagement to get away from me.”
Everything he and Alicia had done, he twisted and dumped onto me.
He played the victim.”
For a moment, I was too stunned to speak. Then, rage surged up. I grabbed the cup in front of me and hurled it across the
room.
“That’s enough, Stefan! Stop slandering me. You were the one who cheated with Alicia–stop twisting the truth!“N
I turned to Simon, eyes burning. “Please don’t believe his lies.”
Simon nodded slowly and then called the waiter over and had them both escorted out.”
