Chapter 6
For the first time, Olivia truly felt how terrifying Harrison could be. He could twist the truth so thoroughly, turn black into white without even blinking.
She was the saboteur now? The jealous ex plotting revenge?
Had he really bought into that narrative?
Had Harrison really gone so blind—so heartless?
“If it weren’t for the emergency involving Lily, I wouldn’t have even spared Emily a second glance. But now she’s caused my daughter’s death—left her without peace, without a grave to rest in. And she nearly killed Dean’s wife. And you think she should walk away from this—untouched, unscathed, like none of it ever happened?” Olivia’s body trembled with rage, her bloodshot eyes locked onto Harrison like daggers.
Harrison had never seen her like this before. His brow furrowed as if trying to piece together a version of reality he didn’t understand. But before he could speak, Emily walked in.
She wasn’t wearing her doctor’s coat. Just a simple T-shirt and jeans. There was an air of youthful ease about her.
She strode over briskly and flung a folder down onto Olivia’s lap.
“Ms. Bennett, this has gone far enough,” Emily said, eyes brimming with fury. “You can hate me all you want, but don’t smear my name. My dream was always to become a good doctor—to save lives.”
She was red-eyed, her voice shaking with indignation. “Everything you’ve done… it’s just because you think I stole your husband. You want revenge.”
“Well, let me tell you this—I was never the other woman. Harrison and I are in a legitimate relationship. You two have been divorced for a long time. If anyone’s been the third party, it’s you.”
Olivia’s gaze dropped to the document Emily had thrown at her.
It was a divorce settlement.
Signed—by her and Harrison. Her signature scrawled across the bottom, weaponized without her knowledge.
So that’s what those papers were. He’d tricked her into signing a divorce agreement without her even knowing.
“We… we’re divorced?” Olivia’s voice came out strangled, as though her throat were stuffed with cotton. “Harrison, you divorced me?”
“She’s a girl with strong ethics. She didn’t want to be with a married man,” Harrison replied casually, not even bothering to explain. “Don’t worry—nothing else will change. You can still stay at the estate with the child. Nothing else needs to change, unless you make it worse.”
Olivia’s hands went numb. She curled her fingers, trying to hold on to something—anything—but everything slipped through like water.
So this was it. Their love was so fragile, their marriage so easily shattered.
Suddenly, she felt bone-deep exhaustion. She didn’t want to fight anymore. Didn’t want to love him anymore.
All she wanted was to take her daughter to Disneyland.
And leave.
“I accept the divorce,” Olivia said quietly. “And I’ll go live, publicly apologize… just give Lily back to me, please.”
She lifted her head, eyes shining with one last sliver of hope.
“You once told me—whatever I wanted, you’d give me. All I want now is to bring Lily home. Let her rest, somewhere that’s ours.”
The words, once full of sweetness, now tasted bitter and hollow.
Harrison’s expression softened—just slightly. But Emily scoffed and stepped in front of him, blocking his view.
“You’re still spinning that fantasy?” Emily said, her voice cracking. “Her donation was processed with full legal clearance. You weren’t even involved.”
Her voice trembled with righteous indignation.
Harrison held her protectively in his arms.
“You keep lying like this, and I won’t hesitate to make it real,” he said, warning laced through his tone. “If you refuse to take responsibility, your mentor can do it on your behalf. After all—when a student misbehaves, the institution answers.””
Then, he pulled out his phone and started a video call.
On the screen, Dean West sat in a cold hospital room, holding his wife’s lifeless body in his arms.
Harrison’s bodyguards stood nearby, alongside uniformed officers.
“Mr. West,” one of them said, “you’re under administrative investigation for breach of journalistic ethics and defamatory content regarding Dr. Emily Ross. You’ll need to cooperate with our legal team.”
Olivia stared at the screen, stunned. “You’re orchestrating this… to silence him? You’re charging him with a crime he didn’t commit?”
“Framing?” Harrison gave a short, humorless laugh. “If I hadn’t stepped in, slander against Emily would’ve flooded every news outlet by now.”
As it turned out, not long after Olivia left the hospital, Dean’s wife had passed away.
Devastated and furious, Dean had gathered every report, every timeline, every file. He was ready to blow the whistle—until Harrison shut it down before it left the server.
But Harrison’s people had already infiltrated the station. The moment Dean tried to publish the report, it was intercepted and shut down.
In Harrison’s eyes, it was nothing more than Olivia’s jealousy-fueled smear campaign against Emily.
