From that moment on, the wicked mother–daughter pair was utterly disgraced.
I was rushed to the hospital to have my wounds stitched up again.
As the IV fluids dripped into my veins, a bone–deep chill settled over me.
Nathaniel didn’t show up until the next evening
Unsurprisingly, the trending topics and the rumors had already been suppressed. He must have expended considerable effort–his face was haggard, exhaustion etched into every line.
“Did you really have to go this far? His eyes were icy, brimming with helpless frustration.
I closed my own, refusing to answer.
What was there to say? That pair murdered Catherine. This was a fight to the death.
As for how Nathaniel planned to retaliate–I couldn’t care less. At worst, I’d lose my life.
But even in death, I’d make sure my enemies paid.
When I remained silent, he exhaled sharply.
After that day, he never came back. I never asked why
On the third day, Benjamin arrived.
He brought every last one of Catherine’s belongings I’d demanded. “It’s all here. Check it yourself.”
It had been so long since we’d spoken without venom.
I had my guards verify the items three times against the inventory. Once confirmed, I pressed my thumbprint onto the Sinclair shares transfer agreement without hesitation.
Benjamin watched, his face gaunt. “How did you get those things?”
He didn’t specify, but I knew what he meant.
“Mother left them to me as a final safeguard. Why didn’t I know about them?” I smiled. “Why do you think she gave them to me and not you–didn’t even let you know they existed?”
His expression twisted. He suddenly didn’t want the answer–but did he really think I’d spare him?
“Those two have always climbed their way up using men. Did you really think they’d ignore the only male heir of the Sinclair family? And you–you were bound to betray Catherine and stab me in the back sooner or later.”
I tilted my head. “And look how brilliantly you proved her right.”
He staggered when he left.
Not long after, news broke of his resignation from the Sinclair group..
But that was no longer my
y concern.
With the mother–daughter duo’s reputation in ruins, my goal was accomplished.
