Chapter 119
Paulette’s eyebrows twitched slightly, “He didn’t really understand much about design.”
“How did you know he didn’t understand?”
Cecilia said seriously, “Besides, even if you don’t understand design, you must have some normal sense of aesthetics, right? Just listen to other people’s opinions more, it won’t hurt anyway.”
Paulette pursed her lips and smiled, neither confirming nor denying.
She always thought Cecilia’s attitude towards Jeremiah was weird.
Can’t really pinpoint where the problem lies, can’t put my finger on it.
She didn’t have much time to think about it. Once the work order was given, the tasks became overwhelming.
The afternoon flew by without Paulette realizing it. When she received a call from Jeremiah, she only then noticed that almost everyone had left
the office.
She rubbed her neck and got up, “Wait for me! I’ll be right back.”
After packing up, I went downstairs and it was already dark outside.
The rush hour is over, not many people at the door, warm white car lights. shining straight ahead, can see at a glance.
Paulette took a few steps and opened the passenger door.
“Sorry, I forgot the time.”
clock out, but you’re the only one who can work tirelessly without eating or sleeping.”
The girl raised her hands behind her and said in a clear voice, “Do you understand the sense of achievement? There are many ways to make money, but isn’t it valuable to do something well and be liked and recognized by others?”
“Of course.”
Jeremiah nodded earnestly, “And Ms. Davenport is so excellent, too.”
He looked so serious, it made Paulette laugh.
She glared at him with a smile and didn’t say anything.
The car was playing some gentle folk music, the sky outside was glowing with rosy light, reflecting between the bustling skyscrapers of the city. The air conditioning was set at a comfortable temperature, as if briefly transporting time and space to spring.
Paulette hummed softly, feeling warm and fuzzy inside.
She thought, This kind of life is already a gift from heaven.
The song wasn’t over yet when Jeremiah’s phone suddenly rang, and Paulette caught a glimpse of the name Collin on the screen.
Collin… must have had the result of that thing.
She bit her lip, and the next second Jeremiah answered the phone.
“Mr. Swanson, we found it.”
Jeremiah grunted, turned on the speaker, and hung up his phone on the stand. “Speak.”

The meaning was clear – Paulette had to listen along. Paulette held her hands together, her calm heart rate slowly speeding up.
“That guy’s name was Edwin Moore, lived on the outskirts of Crireton, but his parents had already died when he was young, later went to jail for theft, and his only wife ran off with another man, in other words…”
“Edwin was a lone wolf, always on the move, we just couldn’t find him anywhere.”
“And also, even if we find him, it’s no use. At the moment, we don’t have solid evidence to prove that he is the one who kidnapped Ms. Davenport.”
Collin sounded a bit annoyed, and quickly explained the whole story in a few words.
Jeremiah kept an eye on Paulette’s reaction.
The girl lowered her gaze, no emotions could be seen.
He stayed silent for a while and asked in a deep voice, “Do they have any social relationship?”
“No, I checked, they shouldn’t know each other.”
“What about Reuben?”
“Couldn’t be further apart.”
So, you’re saying that it really has nothing to do with either of these two people?
Jeremiah raised his thick eyebrows and glanced at the girl beside him. She should be able to accept this outcome.
“Have you also had someone visit his hometown?”
Chapter 119
“Yeah.”
Collin said, “It was such a run–down place, probably only mice could live there.”
What’s the difference between someone who has just come out of prison and has nothing, and a mouse?
Jeremiah’s deep eyes flashed with a hint of gloom, saying coldly, “Keep cooperating with the police over there, but this guy Edwin… even if he buries himself underground, find him for me.”
Collin answered and hung up the phone..
There was a moment of silence in the carriage.
For a while, Paulette finally said in a low voice, “Actually, even if we find him, there’s no point in doing anything to him.”
She suddenly realized why there are so many well–intentioned lies in this world.
Not everything has to be known the truth about.
Jeremiah turned his head and looked at her silent and gentle face in the dim light, she seemed tired, like she didn’t want to pursue anything
anymore.
Paulette was clearly in a bad mood, she didn’t say a word all the way
home.
