But that day, he comered me against the wall.
And kissed my forehead.
“Aubrey, let me ask you something honestly. You have to tell me the truth.”
“Ask away.”
What I remember most was how I absolutely couldn’t control my wildly beating heart.
“Do you like me?”
“Julian, the rain has stopped, right? I need to go back.”
“No, it hasn’t. Didn’t you promise to answer honestly? If you didn’t like me, you wouldn’t be so bold as to sell your house. I can tell you, if you like me, we’ll get married once my startup succeeds.”
What? He said he wanted to marry me.
“If you don’t like me, just forget I said anything.”
I blurted out immediately,
“I… I like you. I always have.”
He looked at me and smiled. His smile was beautiful, as if the radiant Julian was back.
I lifted my hand to cover my flushed face.
But he gently took my hand and held it.
“Good. Then when I succeed, I’ll marry you.”
I wanted to say that even if he failed, I still wanted to marry him.
Under the flashing lightning and booming thunder, he leaned down and gently kissed me, holding me tight.
Having never experienced anything like this before, it felt absolutely magical.
Later, I asked him,
“But I’m not really your type, am I?”
“My type? All I know is that when I was at my lowest, there was a fool who actually sold her house to help me.”

Julian succeeded.
I told you he would.
He kept his promise and married me, even buying a huge house for our marital home.

He was truly amazing.
No matter who I talked to about Julian, I was always so proud.
But along with that pride, I also had a problem.
Julian was just too busy.

He left early and came home late every day, almost never taking weekends off.
But I still understood him.
We
never had time for a honeymoon.
After all, his plan involved expanding the company even further, so it was normal for him to be busy.
Thankfully, I had my own job.

It was our second wedding anniversary.
The company’s operations had also stabilized.
Julian was as busy as ever.
I finally protested a little.
“Julian, I have annual leave next month. Let’s finally go on our honeymoon.”
He initially agreed.
But when my vacation actually came,
He apologized and said,
“Aubrey, I can’t get away. Why don’t you invite your friends and go travel? We’ll cover all their expenses.”
I was so disheartened. “But… I was talking about *our* honeymoon, the one we never took.”
Who goes on their honeymoon with friends?
But he still couldn’t make time for me.
“Next time, okay? I really can’t get away these next few days.”
I was deeply disappointed.
