Chapter 5
Callahan’s eyes were wild. He pried the blood smeared ring from the stiff fingers. “Our wedding ring… she never took it off…” He refused to think the hand could be hers.
“GUARDS!” Callahan roared. “Where is my wife?!”
Seraphina finally caught up, clinging to his arm. “Callahan! You mean me? Why’d you run off?”
Callahan shoved her away violently. “MY WIFE! Where is she?!”
Everyone froze.
Seraphina tried again. “Callahan, stop! I’m right here! I told the guys to grab drinks. You said it’s my birthday, I’m queen today!”
SMACK!
Callahan’s palm cracked across her face. “Shut. Up.”
Seraphina gaped. “You hit me?!”
“You need the Hollis deal! Remember?!”
Callahan’s voice was pure ice. “I needed that land. That’s the only reason I touched trash like you.”
“A bastard brat. You actually thought you could be Mrs. Thorne?”
Hearing “bastard” repeatedly broke her. Since Elara was kicked out, few dared call her that.
“I’m NOT a bastard! My mother IS Mrs. Hollis! I AM the heiress!”
Callahan ignored her, screaming at the guards. “You lost her?! USELESS!”
“I pay you! Who told you to listen to this whore?!” He yelled for the butler. “Security footage! NOW! Find Elara!”
The butler returned, trembling. “Sir… the cameras… sabotaged. All footage… gone.”
“WHAT?!” Callahan grabbed the butler’s collar. “INCOMPETENT FOOL!”
Fear, raw and unfamiliar, clawed at him.
It was just an act! To get the land! He’d never make Seraphina his wife!
The baby? Just leverage against old man Hollis’s scheming.
A bastard wasn’t fit to bear his name!
He’d planned the perfect wedding for Elara after closing the deal! Where was she?!
He shoved down the memory of how his “act” must have hurt Elara.
She was easy to win back. He’d make it up to her.
Suddenly, he strode towards his car. “The hospital.”
Seraphina chased him, shrieking. “Callahan Thorne! You bastard! STOP!”

Chapter 5
Her tantrum drew the guests.
Callahan, already in the car, snapped at the butler. “Throw her out. Ban her from the property.”
“Restore my wife’s room. I’ll bring her home.”
The butler blinked, confused by the sudden shift. “Yes, sir.”
Seraphina Hollis was hauled out like garbage in front of everyone.
She screamed at the gawking guests. “What are you staring at?! I’ll tell my father!”
Their respect was only for Callahan.
Secretly, they despised the bastard homewrecker’s daughter.
Seeing Callahan’s contempt, they closed in. Mocking. Taunting. Shoving.
Meanwhile, Callahan arrived at the hospital. Her mother’s room was empty.
