The two had just left when Rodrick showed up at Blossom
Apparel with Bianca right after.
The two cars brushed past each other.
It was Bianca who recognized Federico’s car first, “That looks
like Federico’s car.”
She paused and said, “Why is Britney with him again? Those
two have been hanging out a lot lately. If Britney isn’t working
overtime, she’s rushing over to meet Federico?”
“No wonder she wanted to quit so badly, turns out she found
herself a better opportunity.” Bianca didn’t bother to hide her
contempt for Britney.
Rodrick didn’t really say anything and didn’t seem interested in
Britney’s stuff.
This made her feel like she had overthought things again at
noon.
Rodrick didn’t approve Britney’s resignation request, maybe it
really was just because of the contract.

After all, since a precedent was set, it was hard to keep others in
the company who had signed contracts from having other
ideas.
The dress Bianca tried on was exactly the one Britney liked at
first sight.
It was also Rodrick who called and asked the manager to
reserve it.
This made Bianca feel like Rodrick really cared about her.
She just tried it on and didn’t feel very satisfied. “Rod, I think this
one isn’t as good as the white dress from the company, even
though this one isn’t bad either.”
Rodrick’s eyes were on his phone, but he still did whatever
Bianca asked, “Then just keep both. Wear whichever you want,
or you can wear both. If you don’t mind the trouble, you can
even change halfway!”
Bianca was overjoyed, “Rod, you really spoiled me!”
Britney and Federico had just arrived at the restaurant when
Britney’s phone rang.

It was Lila who called.
Britney thought there was some emergency at the hospital, so
she picked up right away.
Who knew, Lila asked her why she didn’t go to the hospital with
Rodrick.
Britney was stunned.
No, was Rodrick crazy or something? Why did he go to the
hospital to see her mom?
We didn’t end up having this meal!
When Britney rushed to the hospital, Rodrick hadn’t left yet
and was peeling an apple for Lila, totally focused.
Looked pretty thoughtful, made Lila really happy, her eyes
were all smiles and her tone was cheerful, “Bree, you done with
work? Rod said you were working late.”
Rodrick just had this ability, he could sweet–talk people and
make them feel on top of the world.
Made people think they were being spoiled, loved, and cared
about by him, and unknowingly fell deep into it.
But he could also stab you in the heart like it was nothing.

Britney didn’t know what Rodrick was up to, but in front of
Lila, she couldn’t let it show. She just had to hide her disgust and
pretend to be affectionate with him.
“Had some work left unfinished, got held up a bit longer.”
She paused, smiled at Rodrick, and said, “You too, why didn’t
you tell me in advance you were coming to see my mom.”
Rodrick lifted his eyelids to look at her.
When their eyes met, Rodrick spoke slowly, “When you
handled things outside, of course I had to take care of things at
home.”
What inside and outside, you talked like it was all real.
It was just an illusion.
Or maybe it was just because the lighting in the room was too
warm, that she felt Rodrick’s look at her actually seemed a bit
gentle.
“Two people have to support each other to go far.” Lila’s worries
from before all disappeared at this moment.
