“So, were you jealous?” Bianca thought of what Edward had said
before and finally asked.
Federico just laughed, “You’re overthinking it. Britney was
capable. What’s wrong with me winning people over?”
“Was it really just because of this?”
Federico asked back, “Then what else do you think?”
Even though they had dated for a few years, Bianca still
couldn’t see Federico clearly.
This time I didn’t see it clearly either.
In the private room, Owen was also asking Rodrick about
Britney looking for a job.
“I heard you totally trashed Britney in front of Silvan today?”
Owen was clearly just here for the drama.
“The news was pretty up–to–date.”
Rodrick leaned back in the booth, his handsome face blank, not
showing any expression.

“If you hadn’t put pressure on him, Silvan probably would’ve
tried to get Britney, you know, he’s just an old perv.“”
Rodrick didn’t answer and just picked up the glass on the table
and took a sip.
Owen was surprised, “Not allergic to alcohol?”
“I was doing desensitization treatment recently, and I could
drink a little.”
Owen got even weirder, “Why did you suddenly start drinking
for no reason?”
Edward suddenly chimed in, “Of course it was to help Bianca
drink. She was Rodrick’s first love, he treasured her a lot.””
Owen wanted to check with Rodrick, but Bianca and Federico
came back.
He just went back to the previous topic, “So why did you make
things hard for Britney? She’s been with you for seven years,
and you’re not that heartless.”
“Wasn’t it just that Britney didn’t know what’s good for her? Rodrick was just letting off some steam!” Edward scoffed, “She really thought she was something! Thought Rodrick would beg her to stay. Just wait and see, she’ll come back and apologize to

Federico picked up his coat and said to everyone, “You guys
drink, I have something to do so I’ll go first.”
“What could be more important than a brothers‘ get–together?”
Edward wanted to make Federico stay.
Federico still left without looking back.
Bianca didn’t look so good. Edward asked her, “Bianca, what’s
wrong? Not feeling well?”
Bianca hesitated for a moment and said, “Rico seemed to be
planning to hire Britney.””
Rodrick finished the rest of the wine in his glass in one go.
The alcohol kicked in, and the corners of the eyes turned a bit
red, making the pupils look deep and dark.
Britney just took a shower, opened her computer, and went to a
job site to try her luck.
Smaller companies were fine, and being a bit farther away was
okay too.

She just didn’t believe Rodrick’s hand could reach that far!
I was just browsing when my phone rang and an unknown
number called.
Britney picked up, and the other person introduced themselves.
Was a pretty unexpected person, Voyager Investments‘ Silvan.
Silvan asked Britney if she had found a suitable job, and Britney
honestly said she hadn’t.
Silvan said, “Do you want to think about being my secretary?”
Britney frowned, “But I applied for the investment manager
position, did Mr. Thornecroft make a mistake?”
“Not a mistake, I called just to ask if you wanted to be my
personal secretary” Silvan put extra emphasis on “personal.”
Britney caught on and clearly turned down Silvan’s offer.
Silvan got pissed after being rejected and mocked Britney,
saying, “I don’t know what you’re acting all high and mighty for.
Everyone knows you’re just someone Rodrick got tired of, used
and tossed away. He doesn’t want you now and is even
blacklisting you everywhere. I tried to help you out, and you’re
