Chapter 16
The Graves family basement was pitch black, with light only briefly filtering through when bodyguards came to check on the situation.
In this environment, Raya’s mental state was nearly shattered after just two days.
Aurelian’s footsteps echoed in the stairwell as Raya cowered in the corner, trembling all over.
CLICK!
The door opened.
Raya met Aurelian’s bloodshot eyes and trembled even harder.
“What are you going to do?!” she screamed hysterically.
Aurelian didn’t answer. He stepped back and let the bodyguards behind him enter.
They carried in an industrial oven. The moment Raya saw it, she knew exactly what he planned to do.
The bodyguards opened the oven as her hands and feet were bound tightly with rope.
The instant the door closed, scorching heat hit her like a wall!
“AHHHHH!”
Raya’s agonized screams filled the air. Her skin felt like it was being stabbed by millions of needles simultaneously, sweat evaporating the moment it
formed.
The blazing temperature made her feel like every inch of her flesh was melting off her bones.
She pounded on the oven door, hoping for even a trace of mercy from those outside.
But Aurelian just stood there listening to her screams, his face showing not the slightest emotional response.
When time was up, the bodyguards pulled Raya from the oven.
Her entire body was red and blistered, and their rough handling caused chunks of her fragile skin to peel away.
Before she could recover from that agony, a bucket of ice water crashed over her head.
Her burning skin instantly cooled, but then came even greater waves of pain.
This cycle of extreme hot and cold continued. After just a few rounds, Raya collapsed on the floor like a pile of human wreckage.
“Don’t let her die.”
Looking at Raya’s condition, Aurelian left only those cold words.
Over the following days, Aurelian tortured Raya with every method imaginable.
She was tied to posts and hit by cars.
Forced to crawl up nail–studded steps while kowtowing in repentance to Celia.
Every single torment was something Celia had once endured.

Chapter 16
After rounds of torture, the basement door finally opened.
Bodyguards brought Raya to the hospital. Just when she thought they might finally show mercy, Aurelian led a group of men into the room.
Seeing this, Raya understood immediately. Her desperate struggles and pleas couldn’t soften Aurelian’s heart.
“Aurelian, please, no, you can’t do this to me, please…”
Her cries for help didn’t cause even a flicker of emotion on his face.

arranged for Celia. Don’t worry, it’s just a lesson.”
His tone was casual, even slightly gentle, but to Raya it was bone–chillingly terrifying.
This was the Graves family’s private hospital, the room surrounded by Aurelian’s men.
Raya’s struggles and screams would get no response.
They covered her mouth, slapped her several times, and violently tore off her clothes with brutal roughness.
After the bodyguards led them away, Raya lay there like a broken doll.
“Aurelian.”
Barely clothed, Raya suddenly called out to stop him. “Aurelian, even if you torture me to death, Celia isn’t coming back. She’s dead–gone forever.”
On the day of Celia’s funeral, the Fairborne family set up a memorial hall in the old mansion. Raya was brought there too, bodyguards forcing her to kneel on the ground.
Millicent leaned on Conrad for support, clutching Celia’s photograph and weeping bitterly.
Silas stood nearby, his eyes bloodshot and raw.
Seeing them like this, Raya suddenly laughed.
“You Fairbornes are natural–born actors. When she was alive, you didn’t know how to cherish her. Now that she’s dead, you’re here crying pitifully.”
