Chapter 17
The scorching heat burned against their skin, and a gust of wind from somewhere made the flames in the memorial hall blaze even fiercer.

f the hall.
Aurelian stood in the center, watching the others panic, then looked toward Celia’s portrait in the middle of the hall.
He didn’t struggle. Instead, he leaned against the table and sat down.
Perhaps this was divine punishment for all the terrible things he’d done.
Or maybe Celia wanted him to come join her.
When Aurelian opened his eyes again, he was disoriented. Hadn’t he been burned in the memorial hall? Why wasn’t he waking up in a hospital?
The Graves mansion?
“Young master, today is the day Miss Fairborne gets discharged from the hospital. Didn’t you plan to pick her up? Why haven’t you gotten up yet at this hour? Are you feeling unwell, or do you have other arrangements?”
The butler’s voice reached his ears. Aurelian looked around in disbelief.
The room was full of balloons and flowers, with an engagement ring sitting on the table…
He’d gone back to the night before his proposal?
The day he’d planned to propose to Celia when she was discharged.
Looking at his phone showing 5 PM on June 3rd, 2015, Aurelian was stunned.
As if suddenly remembering something, he grabbed his phone and ran toward the door, calling Celia while instructing the driver.
There was still time. Celia, wait for me.
“Central Hospital, hurry. I’m in a rush.”
Sitting in the taxi, Aurelian began recalling everything that had happened.
Today was the day he’d planned to propose to Celia. According to his plan from the last life, he would pick her up from the hospital, bring her home, tell her how much he’d missed her during her coma, and they’d naturally get together.
The reason everything went wrong last time was because he’d gone to pick up Celia with Raya.
When Celia saw Raya acting intimate with him and chatting happily with her parents, she couldn’t accept it. They had a huge fight, and she stormed
off alone.
The proposal never happened.
In the last life, Raya had constantly provoked Celia, driving wedges between them.
Watching the scenery fly past outside the window, as long as he got there first and protected Celia in front of everyone, none of the events from the last life could happen.
Celia wouldn’t die, and they’d live happily together.
There was still time for everything.
Aurelian rushed to the hospital room door and breathed a huge sigh of relief when he saw no one else was there.

The moment he saw Celia, all his longing and regret flooded his heart. Ile quickly walked over and pulled her into his arms.
“Celia.”
His voice was hoarse, choked with tears.
Celia was confused but still reached up to hug him back. “What’s wrong? Didn’t we just see each other yesterday? Why are you crying when you came to pick me up?”
“I just missed you so much. I was so afraid of losing you.”
Aurelian held Celia tightly, unwilling to let go even a little.
He was terrified this was all a dream, that if he let go, he’d wake up and Celia would disappear, and he’d never find her again.
Celia thought he was worried because of her previous coma.
“I won’t leave you. The doctor said I’m completely recovered now. I’ll be with you properly from now on and never make you worry for so long again.”
Celia could feel Aurelian’s tears soaking her clothes.
“Help me pack up quickly. Mom, Dad, and Silas are coming soon too. They said they have a surprise for me–being all mysterious about it. I wonder what they’re planning.”

Hearing Celia’s words, a flash of malice crossed Aurelian’s eyes, but he quickly replaced it with gentle affection.
“I’ll always love you, Celia.”
Celia looked up and shared a long kiss with him.
“You’re acting strange today. Did something happen?”
Instead of answering Celia’s question, Aurelian said, “Celia, trust me. No matter how others change, I’ll always stay by your side.”
Though she didn’t know what was going on, Aurelian’s words filled Celia’s heart with warmth.
“I know. I’ll always love you too.”
Just then, the hospital room door opened. The first person to enter wasn’t Conrad, Millicent, or Silas, but a girl who resembled Celia somewhat.
Celia looked puzzled. “Who are you looking for?”
But Raya didn’t focus on Celia. Instead, she spoke to Aurelian behind her:
“Aurelian, didn’t you say we’d pick up sister together? When I went to find you, you weren’t home?”
She moved to link arms with Aurelian, but he pushed her away firmly.
“I’m Celia’s fiancé and your brother–in–law. Watch your behavior and words.”
Raya stood frozen in place, her eyes immediately reddening.
Celia didn’t know what was happening but instinctively moved closer to Aurelian’s side.
Millicent entered right behind and immediately pulled Raya into her arms when she saw her looking hurt.
“What’s wrong, sweetie? Did someone bully you?”
Conrad and Silas also quickly surrounded Raya with concern.

Celia watched the three people who claimed they came to pick her up from the hospital completely ignore her, feeling a bitter ache in her heart.
Perhaps finally noticing something was wrong, Millicent hurried to introduce Raya to Celia.
“This is Raya, a child we adopted a few years ago. She’s like your sister now.”
“Celia, you’re the big sister now. You need to take care of your little sister.”
Millicent held Raya’s hand with one hand and reached for Celia’s with the other, trying to get them acquainted.
Looking at Raya, who resembled her somewhat, Celia immediately understood what was happening.
“So this is your surprise!”
Celia pulled away from Raya’s hand and couldn’t help but confront them.
“Does sister not like me?”
Hearing Raya’s hurt words, Silas immediately frowned and scolded Celia.
“Celia! Where are your manners?! Raya is our family now. How can you treat her like this?”
Celia couldn’t believe her brother, who had always doted on her, would scold her like this for Raya’s sake.
“I don’t want her as family! I saved your lives and spent five years in a coma, and you found a replacement for me to channel your grief–and now you want me to accept her? Do you think that’s realistic?!”
This confrontation made the hospital room atmosphere instantly awkward. For a moment, no one spoke.
“Since sister doesn’t like me, Mom, maybe you should send me back. I’m already happy I got to stay with you this long.”
Her tactical retreat made any guilt Millicent felt toward Celia vanish instantly.
“Celia! She’s your sister now, whether you accept it or not.”
“Your father and I made this decision. It’s not your place to question it.”
Looking at them, Celia felt devastated and chilled to the bone.
Aurelian pulled her into his arms. “It’s okay, Celia. I’ll always be by your side.”
He was the only person Celia could rely on now. “Aurelian, please take me away from here.”
Celia really didn’t want to stay in that hospital room another second, and she didn’t want to see any of them anymore.
Aurelian looked at the Fairborne family with displeasure, his words sharp and unforgiving.
“Celia is your real daughter, your family of over twenty years, the person who risked her life to save you–and this is how you treat her!”
“If the Fairborne family won’t treat her well, then I will.”
Aurelian took Celia and left directly.
Back in the car, Celia couldn’t hold back her tears anymore.
She couldn’t understand why her parents and brother, who had always loved her, had become like this.
Just because of Raya’s few words, she had to endure their accusations.

Chapter 17
“Aurelian, I only have you now.”
Seeing this, Aurelian finally understood how terribly wrong he’d been.
In his past life, he’d been deceived by Raya along with the Fairborne family, hurting Celia because of her manipulations.
Thinking about it made his heart feel like it was being cut by knives.
But thank God, thank God.
In this life, he still had a chance. There was still time for everything.
“Don’t be sad, Celia. I’ll always love you and stay by your side.”
Aurelian brought Celia back to their little home.
The moment she opened the door, Celia saw the living room bathed in soft light filtering through colorful balloons, casting brilliant shadows on the walls and filling the entire room with a dreamy, sweet atmosphere.
Her favorite music played throughout the room, as if love’s melody was flowing through the air.
Colorful balloons extended from the entrance, seeming to guide Celia toward this feast of love.
In the center of the room, candles had been carefully arranged into a large heart shape.
The warm candlelight flickered gently, like beating hearts expressing Aurelian’s burning devotion.
In the middle of the heart sat a bouquet of gorgeous red roses, their petals still adorned with crystal dewdrops, looking especially captivating.
Rose petals were scattered around the candles, red as fire, complementing the candlelight to create the ultimate romantic atmosphere.
Photos of them together were placed throughout the room’s corners. The pictures showed their bright smiles, recording every happy moment.
Some photos were in elegant frames hanging on the walls; others were scattered on tables, as if telling the story of their journey together.
Additionally, the room displayed some of Celia’s favorite stuffed animals, neatly arranged like guardians of this romantic proposal.
When Celia entered this world filled with love, she was deeply moved by Aurelian’s thoughtfulness and felt overwhelmed by happiness.
“Celia, will you marry me?”
Aurelian knelt on one knee, asking the question with near–religious devotion.
“Yes, I will.”
The proposal that had gone unfulfilled in his past life was finally complete in this one.
