Chapter 18
Aurelian looked at Celia with eyes full of devotion, taking out the engagement ring from his pocket–the same ring he hadn’t been able to give her in his past life. Only when it was slipped onto her ring finger did he truly believe everything was different now.
Whatever the reason, he was grateful to heaven for giving him this chance to make amends.
Since Celia was still recovering from her illness, Aurelian didn’t want her to work outside, and she wasn’t eager to interact with many people either. So she used her pen to draw little stories at home.
Her stories accidentally went viral on a digital platform, and from then on, she made it her main career, completely abandoning any thoughts of working outside.
Since leaving the hospital, she’d been living with Aurelian.
The Fairborne family had come to see her twice, both visits ending unpleasantly, and later Aurelian simply blocked them from the door entirely.
They hired a housekeeper, and Celia would occasionally visit Aurelian’s company to bring him lunch. Those were always the happiest times for the company staff, because seeing his wife would put the boss in a much better mood.
Today, after finishing the ending of her latest story, Celia saw she still had time and decided to bring lunch to Aurelian at his company.
He’d been extremely busy lately, working overtime for days. By the time he came home each night, Celia was already asleep. She’d often wake up drowsily when he pulled her into his arms after his late return.
In the mornings, seeing reminders on her phone to not forget breakfast told her he’d already gone to the office.
Come to think of it, they hadn’t had a proper meal together in quite some time.
Arriving at the company, Celia took the private elevator straight to Aurelian’s office.
“Mr. Graves is with clients. Let me notify him.”
“No need to trouble yourself. I’ll find him myself.”
After placing the lunch box on the dining table in his office, Celia slowly made her way toward the reception room.
The atmosphere in the client room was tense. It was Silas and Raya, whom she hadn’t seen in a long while.
“Celia is my sister! What right do you have to stop me from seeing her?!”
Faced with Silas’s accusation, Aurelian scoffed. “Sister? The way you and the Fairborne family have acted shows you’ve never treated her like a sister.”
“I haven’t restricted Celia’s freedom. She chooses not to see you.”
“Impossible! How could she not want to see us? We’re her beloved family!”
For the first time, Aurelian realized just how shameless Silas could be.
“The last few times you met, you forced Celia to accept Raya. Every meeting ended badly, and Celia was upset for two days after seeing you each time. If you really considered her family, you’d send Raya away and properly apologize to Celia!”
Hearing this, tears immediately rolled down Raya’s cheeks.
“Aurelian, did Celia say something bad about me behind my back? You weren’t like this before. How can you say such things and tell Silas to send me
away?!”

Faced with Raya’s manipulation, Aurelian completely rejected it.
“Celia has never said a bad word about you to me–nothing like what you’re maliciously assuming. It’s you who keeps trying to shift blame onto Celia. What are you trying to accomplish?!”
Aurelian raised his hand, showing his engagement ring. “I’ve already proposed to Celia. Stop saying things that might make her misunderstand.”
“Maybe I was wrong before, but Celia is awake now. I want you to keep your distance from me, and preferably get out of the Fairborne family entirely. If I find out you’ve done anything to hurt Celia, I’ll make you pay!”
These words left Raya frozen in place, not daring to move.
Celia pushed open the door and walked in, her gaze sweeping over Silas and Raya before immediately looking away, pretending not to see them.
“Did you come to bring me lunch?”
The moment he saw Celia, Aurelian’s aggressive demeanor
Award Silas and the others instantly melted away, replaced by tenderness.
“Yes. Your assistant said you were in the reception room. Am I interrupting?”
Before Aurelian could answer, a harsh voice came from inside the room.
“Celia! Don’t you even say hello when you see us?”
Celia paused, then turned to face Silas. “Is there a need to?”
“We’re your family. Even if you marry Aurelian someday, we’re still your closest relatives.”
Instead of responding, Celia lifted her skirt.
“This is from the car accident–a scar that goes almost completely through my thigh. Hundreds of stitches.”
“I still have blood clots in my head that haven’t dissolved. You can feel the scar on the back of my head with your hand.”
She listed her scars one by one, while Aurelian stood beside her, his eyes full of heartache.
“Are you trying to threaten me with these?”
Hearing Silas’s words, Celia’s eyes filled with undisguised disappointment.
“Silas, I really overestimated you. I’m not saying this to gain sympathy or threaten you. I just want you and the Fairborne family to understand how terribly wrong you’ve been.”
“I’ve been out of the hospital for over two months. In those two months, you’ve visited me twice–both times to make me accept Raya. You’ve never once asked about my injuries or my health.”
“Silas, you’ve all disappointed me so much. I’d rather not have family like you.”
Seeing Celia’s pain, Aurelian immediately ordered them to be escorted out.
Celia nestled in Aurelian’s arms.
“Aurelian, I’m so tired.”
Tender kisses fell on her forehead and cheeks. “Don’t think about them anymore. From now on, I’m your only family–family who will never abandon
or give up on you.”
“Since you don’t want to see them anymore, how about we go traveling?”
