Chapter 29
Heath shoved Aurora aside and stormed back to his room, knife in hand, slamming the door shut with a loud “bang.”
Stumbling, Aurora fell to the floor, puzzled. Why did Dominic abandon her again?
Sitting on the floor, Aurora couldn’t help but shed tears of helplessness.
Back in his room, Heath tossed the fruit knife aside and flopped onto his bed.
Thinking about the nonsense Aurora had just spewed, he began to doubt, Was this Aurora the same girl from the Pendleton family he once knew?
Lysander had said that Aurora used to be chubby. Now she was slim. The drugs should’ve made her dumb, but she seemed sharper than ever-
And all that rambling about fighting, shooting, being killed, and betrayed—what kind of life was that for a high schooler?
Recalling how pitiful Aurora looked, clutching at his shirt and crying, Heath felt irritated. He got up, opened the door, and found her curled up on the floor under the dim light.
Heath sighed as he looked at Aurora, dressed in a white nightgown, her tiny feet delicate. She was hugging herself tightly, her eyes red and swollen from crying
What the hell had gotten into him to make him so concerned about her?

bly taken out by the maid while changing her clothes. Everything was neatly arranged. But why would a high schooler need two phones?
Probably
Curious, Heath dialed Aurora’s number. One of the Pup. He hung up and picked up the other phone, debating whether to snoop or not.
“Ah, screw it, he thought, feeling like he was prying too much.
just then, a text popped up on the phone: “Deal’s set. When do we move?”
Heath was even more puzzled.
Move? What move?
He looked back at Aurora, sleeping soundly. Her face was flushed from the alcohol, eyes red from crying. She seemed utterly vulnerable.
What secrets was she hiding?
Returning to his room, Heath rubbed his temples. This Aurora was far from the innocent girl she appeared to be.
The next day, Aurora sat up, rubbing her messy hair, and looked around the unfamiliar room and her unfamiliar pajamas.
“Damn it, did I get drunk and end up in a hotel room?” she thought, feeling a stampede of imaginary beasts in her mind. She might have grown up in America with liberal views, but this was too much even for her.
She was ready to chop up whoever dared to mess with h
her.
Fuming. Aurora stormed out of her room, just as the door across the hall opened. Out stepped Heath, wrapped in a towel.
His slightly curly hair was still wet, giving him a softer look than usual. His perfect abs and V–line were on full display, muscular legs hidden by the towel. A total male modell

Chapter 29
Snapping back to reality, Aurora turned her head away, embarrassed. “I didn’t look. I wasn’t looking!”
Seeing her act all tsundere reminded him of how she cried over sonse guy
sonse guy named Dominic last night. His face turned cold instantly.
Before Aurora could react, Heath turned and slammed his bedroom door shut.
“What’s his problem?” Aurora thought. “Why’s he so moody? What’s he mad about? Did I do something?”
Then it hit her. Was the jerk she was planning to ‘chop up” Heath Fairbank?
She had been drinking at a bar, right? How did she end up entangled with Heath?
Rubbing her head, which felt like a chicken’s nest, Aurora couldn’t remember a thing. She had drunk too much last night and blacked out.
