The moment I got home that night, the first thing I did was start digging into the Hunt family’s business history, every deal, every contract.
I also ordered a full audit on Jack’s company finances.
It’s funny how things work: when you’re not looking, everything seems fine.
But once you start pulling at the threads, the whole thing unravels.
And it unraveled fast.
I didn’t even have to dig that deep to uncover illegal practices and shady transactions tied to the Hunt family.
The evidence practically handed itself over.
That same night, I turned everything over to the police.
One look at the sheer volume of forged contracts and illicit transactions, and Jack’s father was arrested on the spot.
Sure, they could probably bail him out eventually, the Hunts had money.
But the public damage to their reputation and finances was irreversible.
Jack’s company operated in online entertainment, video platforms, digital novels, content subscription apps.
That kind of business always walked a fine line.
And after I filed my complaint, regulatory agencies swarmed in the next day.
His entire content division was ordered to shut down and undergo investigation.
Every video project, every novel license, pulled from the shelves.
Even the company’s website was taken offline.
I didn’t know how Jack was doing.
But I could imagine.
His father was still in custody, under formal investigation.

Went to work. Clocked out on time. Lived as usual.
Until one night, after work, Jack’s mother showed up outside my apartment.
“Emma… please,” she said, her voice trembling. “I’m begging you. Just let our family go. We know we were wrong.”
“We never meant for this to happen. When we arranged that date with Jack, it was supposed to be a
match, not a war.”
I met her eyes calmly.
“Ma’am, I never imagined that dating someone could land me in the hospital.”
“What Jack and Olivia Moore did wasn’t just ‘wrong‘, it was criminal. They were involved from the
beginning, and I endured it, again and again. All I wanted was a peaceful breakup.”
“But how did Jack respond? He pushed me to the ground so hard it shattered my heel.”
“I might be kind, but I’m not a saint. Yes, I’m the one who filed the report. It had nothing to do with
my father or my brother.”
“I just wanted justice.”
With that, I turned and walked away, leaving her standing alone in the hallway.
I hoped she understood what I was really saying between the lines.
Turns out, Jack’s mom was smarter than Jack.
The very next morning, she showed up again at my building, this time flanked by two bodyguards, dragging Olivia Moore along like a criminal.
One look at her disheveled face and I could already tell she’d gone through hell just trying to get
Olivia here.

I simply watched silently through the peephole.
The moment they reached my door, Jack’s mom slapped Olivia across the face. Hard.

“You filthy little tramp! You seduced my son and destroyed our entire family!”

She landed another vicious kick to Olivia’s face.
The hallway echoed with the sound of fists and screams.
I didn’t open the door.
And I didn’t call the cops.
That’s because when I was the one being assaulted by Olivia Moore, when I was left bleeding on the restaurant floor, Jack didn’t take me to the hospital either.
