Chapter 21
Blair didn’t want to continue the conversation. He looked up at Sandra and said, “The Watts family’s business isn’t that big yet. They won’t be asking anything from me. Mom, please leave.”
“But what if they want to… borrow money?”
Seeing Blair’s face harden, Sandra quickly made a motion as if sealing her lips.
With a huff, she left the study, leaving Blair to try to focus on his work.
He leaned back in his chair and rubbed his temples.
He had just seen the caption Bianca posted along with the photo, and he realized today was also her father Laurence’s birthday.
Five years of marriage, and he had never known about this.
But when he thought about it, he didn’t know much about her. He didn’t even know what she studied in college.
Their relationship had started with an accident–she got pregnant, and his grandfather pressured him into marrying her.
This marriage had always been something optional to him, something he never really cared about.
With or without her, his life would continue just the same.
Whether she did something or didn’t, he thought, it wouldn’t make any difference to him–now, or in the future.

On Monday, Bianca returned to Town Square School.
As soon as she arrived at the infirmary, Principal Virgil Kent hurried. over to find her. “Dr. Watts, you’re finally here! I’ve been waiting for you for quite a while.”
It was clear from the sweat on his forehead that he was anxious.
Bianca was puzzled. “What happened? Did something happen with the children?”
With that, Bianca picked up the medical kit and was about to head out, but Virgil stopped her. “No, that’s not it,” he said. “There’s a charity fundraiser this afternoon, and I heard a very famous businessman from Ylagos is attending. The homeroom teacher for Class 2, Grade 2, had to go give birth, and with the school short–handed, I was hoping you. could help out by supervising the class this afternoon. Just take the kids. to the playground, and once the event is over, bring them back to the classroom.”
Bianca let out a relieved breath. “Oh, I see now. That’s fine. I’ll take care of it this afternoon.”
At 2 p.m., the school announced the assembly, and as planned, Bianca led the children from Class 2 to the playground.
Once they were lined up, she stood at the back of the group, waiting for the event to begin.
It was a pleasant autumn day, with the town enjoying mild
temperatures. The orange–yellow leaves rustled in the wind, falling softly to the ground.

After Virgil announced the start of the event, a tall figure emerged from behind the school building to a round of applause.
Bianca slowly recognized the figure–it was Blair.
As soon as she remembered what Virgil had said about the famous businessman, it dawned on her that Blair was the one they’d been talking about.
Her heart remained calm, but she couldn’t help but keep her eyes on him.
Today was different from usual. He wore casual clothes, keeping a low profile. His handsome, gentle face looked just like it had in her
memory.
Blair had been incredibly generous–donating 10 million dollars to build new school facilities, covering the living expenses of underprivileged students, and even handing out allowances.
Aside from their marriage, he was actually a good person.
He was kind to everyone, but when it came to her… that was another
story.
Once the event ended, Blair walked off toward the teaching building with his assistant.
Bianca escorted the children back to their classroom and then headed toward the infirmary.
In the teacher’s office, Blair was still waiting for Virgil to finish. He was standing by the window, and when Bianca passed by, he froze for
a moment.
But Bianca kept her gaze straight ahead, not even noticing him.
