Chapter 2
Not long after their wedding, she found out she was pregnant.
Julius was so overjoyed that he was moved to tears. He even took an extended leave from the company, insisting on taking care of her
throughout the pregnancy himself.
But his decision met with fierce opposition from everyone in the Swanton family. His father, Richard Swanton, even threatened to use the family’s old–school discipline, determined to knock some sense into his son, whom he accused of being blinded by a woman.
Julius knelt outside Richard’s study the entire night, his knees raw and bleeding, but he refused to give in. “Eileen is carrying my child. I have to take care of her myself!”
Looking back now, Eileen realized he hadn’t wanted to take care of her at all. He was just afraid that if anything happened to the baby inside her, he wouldn’t be able to swap in his illegitimate child…
Her phone buzzed with a video call. The words “My Love” flashed across the screen, more jarring than ever.
Expressionless, Eileen answered the call. Julius’s handsome face
appeared
on the screen. “Eileen, where are you? You look awful–are you okay?”
In the past, whenever she felt even the slightest bit wronged, she would tell him right away, and he’d always stick up for her.
But now, she couldn’t even stand the thought of facing him.
“Eileen, have you been crying? Where are you? I’ll come pick you up right
now!”
Chapter 2
Julius shot up from his chair, panic etched across his face.
“I’m fine. Just went out for coffee,” Eileen replied, her voice weary and distant. She had no desire to keep talking. “I’ll be back soon.”
Julius let out a sigh of relief, but his eyes flicked away from the screen. After a brief silence, he spoke softly, “Come back soon, okay? Archie’s still waiting for you.”
Eileen answered absentmindedly, “Mm.”
She was about to hang up when she caught a glimpse of a woman’s silhouette flashing across the screen, then settling onto Julius’s lap…
Eileen froze, unable to react before the call suddenly ended.
She stood rooted to the spot, slowly raising her fists and pounding them against her chest, but the pain inside just kept surging, impossible to suppress.

“They’re together… in Archie’s hospital room.
She buried her head in her arms, fighting to hold back her anger, but broken sobs still escaped her, ragged and uncontrollable.
“So this is what utter despair feels like,” she thought bitterly. “It hurts- God, it hurts so much…”
She had once tried to convince herself that maybe Julius was the one being pursued.
But now, it was clear–he was enjoying every minute of it.
Victor sensed something was wrong. He rushed over, not even bothering to grab his coffee, and when he saw Eileen’s anguish, his heart ached for her. “Eileen, Julius isn’t worth your tears.”
ink.
Victor’s heart broke for her. He gently patted her shoulder, his voice trembling. “Don’t worry, Eileen. I’ll help you get your child back.
“As for Julius, he’ll pay for what he’s done. But Eileen, what about you? Have you thought about what you want to do next?”
Eileen nodded through her sobs. She’d already made up her mind–the moment she learned Julius had betrayed her, she knew exactly what she had to do…
