Chapter 203
That morning, bombshell news shook the entire media world – James Chancer was getting married again after his divorce.
The story had been trending since dawn. Sarah saw the news when she arrived at her psychology counseling office at Adams University.
She had barely glanced at her phone screen when a woman entered her office
It was Charlotte!
“Miss Garnett, the counseling office is only open to university students,” Sarah said coldly.
Charlotte smiled graciously, “Miss Sanders, there’s no need for such hostility. I’m here to process Lucy’s leave of absence,
“If you’re looking to process a leave of absence, the administrative office is in the second building after you exit this door. I need to work now,” Sarah said expressionlessly, lowering her head to organize her things, ignoring Charlotte,
“Miss Sanders, I’ve already handled the paperwork. I just passed by to give you something.” Charlotte took out a dark red invitation from her bag and placed it on Sarah’s desk
The invitation had two characters embossed in gold: Wedding Invitation
Sarah barely glanced at the glaring gold text. “You didn’t need to come here personally to tell me. The news of your wedding
is all over the internet.”
“James and I sincerely want to invite you to our wedding,” Charlotte tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. James
would be very happy if you could attend.”
Sarah looked at her coldly, “No thanks. Please leave. I won’t be coming.”
Charlotte gave a soft laugh and turned to leave.
After work, Sarah tossed the offensive invitation into her drawer and left campus. Zachary came to pick her up since Mia was
having dinner with friends.
*James and Charlotte are getting married.”
Sarah nodded, “I actually thought it would happen sooner. Charlotte came specially to deliver the invitation today, but I don’t
plan to attend their wedding.”
The black Cayenne drove through the night, passing through pools of streetlight that seemed to scatter stars across the ground, creating shadows that stretched and shrank
Sarah looked toward the overpass with its endless stream of traffic, her gaze growing distant as she noticed Zachary’s profile
reflected in the window.
At the Chancer house.
Charlotte told James about delivering the invitation w
when he got home from work. She’d expected him to be angry, but he just nodded calmly without any extreme reaction
*James, your mother said we should bring Lucy back from the old mansion tomorrow. She’s your sister – it wouldn’t look right if she missed your wedding.”
James didn’t refuse, just turned and went to his study
Two days before James and Charlotte’s wedding, Mrs. Chancer personally went to the Century Hotel to oversee the
preparations
Because the wedding was arranged so hastily, the St. Ritz Hotel was already booked, so they had to settle for the similarly prestigious Century Hotel

Charlotte dragged James to try on wedding attire. When the fitting room curtain opened, she emerged in a strapless white wedding dress, her face glowing with happiness.
She looked at James gracefully, full of anticipation, and asked, “How do I look?”
James didn’t speak. He stared blankly into Charlotte’s eyes, but in her refined features, he saw someone else.
His wedding with Sarah had been rushed. He hadn’t been involved at all, nor had his mother. Sarah had handled everything
herself
He couldn’t remember most details, except for when Sarah came back after trying on her wedding dress, excitedly telling him, “I tried on my wedding dress today. The staff all said I looked beautiful. They took photos, but I can’t show you – I want to surprise you at the wedding.”
