The Chancer and Garnett families rushed over James grabbed Charlotte’s arm, “Charlotte, what’s wrong?”
“James, she tore up our marriage certificate and our wedding photos she deliberately scratched out my face.”
She produced the marriage certificate torn in half, while Mrs. Garnett held up the wedding photo with the defaced face.

She looked at the marriage certificate in Charlotte’s hand, then at the wedding photo. “I don’t even know where you kept your marriage certificate and photos How could I have torn them? You and James make a good couple – why would I tear up your certificate? What do you two have to do with me?
Charlotte shed more tears, “Miss Sanders, I know you’re upset seeing James marry again, but it’s already done. We’ve tried everything we could to avoid hurting you, but your relationship with James didn’t break down overnight. Why would you destroy my happiness?”
She cried helplessly, seeming to have spent all her energy as she leaned against James’s chest.
